Bacillus subtilis engineered for topical delivery of an antifungal agent.
Fungal skin infections are a common condition affecting 20-25 percent of the world population. While these conditions are treatable with regular application of an antifungal medication, we sought to develop a more convenient, longer-lasting topical ...

Influence of the Culture Medium on the Production of Iturin A by Bacillus subtilis [PDF]
The production of iturin A by Bacillus subtilis was studied with respect to the composition of the culture medium. Increasing phosphate concentrations did not modify the antibiotic yield. Fructose, sucrose and mannitol were better carbon sources than glucose for antibiotic production.

Kinetic analysis on precursors for iturin A production from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BPD1
In this study, the precursor effect for iturin A production was quantitatively analyzed. A strain identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BPD1 (Ba-BPD1) was selected due to its ability to produce iturin A.

Strong inhibitory activities and action modes of lipopeptides on lipase
Lipopeptides have been reported to exhibit anti-obesity effects. In this study, we obtained a Bacillus velezensis strain FJAT-52631 that could coproduce iturins, fengycins, and surfactins.

Genome mining conformance to metabolite profile of Bacillus strains to control potato pathogens
Biocontrol agents are safe and effective methods for controlling plant disease pathogens, such as Fusarium solani, which causes dry wilt, and Pectobacterium spp., responsible for potato soft rot disease.
