Estimation of German KIR Allele Group Haplotype Frequencies

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
The impact of the highly polymorphic Killer-cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) gene cluster on the outcome of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCST) is subject of current research.

KIR B or not to be?...that is the question for ALL [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2014
Although antihost alloreactivity varies among HCT donors, differences are most pronounced in the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatched setting, where mismatch between donor KIR and recipient KIR ligands (ie, HLA) are more frequent. It was initially assumed that natural killer (NK) cells kill targets without restriction by the HLA complex.

Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Alpine flora of Kashmir Himalaya: floristic assessment, life history traits and threat status

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Alpine ecosystems in the Himalaya are considered to be at a higher risk to anthropogenic global change drivers. The Kashmir Himalaya, located in the north‐western side of the Himalayan biodiversity hotspot, harbors a diverse alpine flora, which remains systematically little investigated.

The extensive polymorphism of KIR genes [PDF]

open access: yesImmunology, 2009
SummaryThe functions of human natural killer (NK) cells are controlled by diverse families of antigen receptors. Prominent among these are the killer cell immunoglobulin‐like receptors (KIR), a family of genes clustered in one of the most variable regions of the human genome.

Functional Repurposing of Magnetic Nanoparticle‐Assisted Hyperthermia for Immune Cell Labelling and Tracking

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
We propose mild‐MHT protocol for the quick internalization of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) by immune cells. The heat induced by MNPs under alternating magnetic field stimulate MNPs diffusion and cell membrane invagination, accelerating the cellular internalization of MNPs. ABSTRACT Immune cell therapies show promise in hematologic malignancies and are

Diving Deeper Into Mechanisms of Acrylamide‐Induced Toxicity: RNA Sequencing Reveals Transcriptomic Alteration and Retrotransposon Expression in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.

Evaluation of the association between KIR polymorphisms and systemic sclerosis: a meta-analysis

open access: yesAdvances in Rheumatology, 2020
Background The results of investigations on the association between killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) gene polymorphisms and the risk of systemic sclerosis (SSc) are inconsistent.

High-Resolution Analysis Identifies High Frequency of KIR-A Haplotypes and Inhibitory Interactions of KIR With HLA Class I in Zhejiang Han

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) interact with human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules, modulating critical NK cell functions in the maintenance of human health.
