Root Order Dependent Changes in Fine‐Root Substrate and Soil Environment Regulate Soil Organic Nitrogen Fractions Under Acid Rain and Nitrogen Deposition

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acid rain and nitrogen deposition are important environmental stressors affecting soil nitrogen cycling in subtropical forests, whereas fine‐root decomposition represents a major pathway for soil organic nitrogen (SON) input and transformation.

Enzymatic Synthesis of Theanine in the Presence of L-glutaminase Produced by Trichoderma koningii

open access: yesApplied Food Biotechnology, 2017
Background and Objective: Since ancient times, it has been said that drinking green tea brings relaxation. The substance that is responsible for a sense of relaxation is theanine. Theanine (γ-glutamylethylamide) is a unique non-protein amino acid. It gives an umami taste and a unique flavor to the tea, and has many physiological and pharmaceutical ...

Production and Optimization of L-glutaminase from Halophilic Fusarium solani-melongenae Strain CRI 24 under Submerged and Solid State Fermentation

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
L-glutaminase is a unique enzyme with catalytic activity and the ability to modulate glutamine levels, making it a valuable enzyme with numerous potential applications. L-glutaminase triggers a distinctive reaction by converting L-glutamine into glutamic

Effect of Salinity Stress on Gut–Brain–Gonad Axis in the Red‐Eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The increase in salinity leads to changes in the gut microbiota and metabolites of Trachemys scripta elegans, affecting the synthesis and secretion of neurotransmitters or precursors, which can inhibit the secretion of reproductive hormones and affect the self‐renewal and differentiation process of spermatogonial stem cells.

Dendritic Cell α‐Ketoglutarate Regulates Tfh Polarization in Allergy

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Allergen induces a dendritic cell metabolism shift toward glutaminolysis with α‐ketoglutarate as a regulator of Tfh subset polarization. Glutaminolysis is required for DC allergen uptake, co‐stimulatory molecule expression, and CLR expression. Modulation of glutaminolysis, JmjD3 histone demethylation, or HIF‐1α degradation alters Tfh polarization and ...

From hepatic to hematopoietic: LRH‐1's expanding cellular repertoire to the immune system

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The nuclear receptor LRH‐1 is a well‐characterized regulator of endodermal tissue. Yet, increasing evidence indicates that LRH‐1, although expressed at low levels, is also a critical regulator of the hematopoietic system. LRH‐1 regulates the immune system by contributing to immune cell‐specific functions.

Therapeutic impact of purified Trichoderma viride l-asparaginase in murine model of liver cancer and in vitro Hep-G2 cell line

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, 2023
Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the common cancers, but difficult to diagnose and treat. l-asparaginase has been introduced in the treatment protocol of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) since the 1960s with a good outcome ...

Phenotypic characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana mutants that alleviate root growth defects in a vitamin B6 biosynthesis mutant

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Vitamin B6 is a critical molecule for plant metabolism and development. Rsr4‐1, a loss‐of‐function mutant in a vitamin B6 biosynthesis gene, has a distinct short root phenotype. Here we describe five novel suppressor mutants with an rsr4‐1 background that have normalized root growth and distinct phenotypic and molecular characteristics, representing a ...

TOP1MT rs2293925 is an enhancer‐active regulatory SNP that shapes mitochondrial R‐loop dynamics

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study shows how a common genetic variant of mitochondrial topoisomerase 1 (TOP1MT rs2293925) can influence mitochondrial gene regulation, DNA topology, and formation of noncanonical nucleic acid structures such as R‐loops. By linking this enhancer‐active variant to mitochondrial nucleic acid stress in cellular contexts relevant to amyotrophic ...
