Mechanism-based inactivation of l-pipecolate oxidase by a sulfur-containing substrate analog, 5-thia-l-pipecolic acid

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1997
Abstract 5-Thia- l -pipecolic acid, (S)-1,3-thiazane-4-carboxylic acid (6), was synthesized and found to serve as an excellent substrate for Rhesus monkey liver l -pipecolate oxidase ( l -PO) and also to cause time-dependent, irreversible inactivation of the enzyme.

γ-l-Glutamyl-l-pipecolic acid in Gleditsia caspica

Phytochemistry, 1974
Abstract y- l -Glutamyl- l -pipecolic acid has been isolated from seeds of Gleditsia caspica (L.) Desf. Proof of its structure was obtained by chromatographic and spectroscopic examination of the natural product and its hydrolytic products. The new compound is the first example of a naturally occurring γ-glutamyl imino acid.

L-pipecolic acid production in thrA knockout Escherichia coli

2023
L-pipecolic acid (L-PA) is a non-proteinogenic amino acid, however, it is an important precursor and a key ingredient of many pharmaceutically compound syntheses such as immunosuppressants and anesthetics. The production of amino acids via fermentation of microorganisms are getting attention, one of the widely used is an engineered E. coli.

Chiral synthesis of 5-hydroxy-(L)-pipecolic acids from (L)-glutamic acid

Tetrahedron Letters, 1988
Abstract A stereo- and enantio-specific synthesis of the naturally occurring cis-5-hydroxy-(L)-pipecolic acid (3) is described, starting from Z-(L)-glutamic acid; the key step involves cyclisation of a protected chlorohydrin, and also gives access to trans-5-hydroxy-(L)-pipecolic acid.

ChemInform Abstract: PREPARATION OF TRANS‐5‐HYDROXY‐L‐PIPECOLIC ACID AND CIS‐4‐HYDROXY‐L‐PIPECOLIC ACID FROM L‐BAIKIAIN (1,2,5,6‐L‐TETRAHYDROPYRIDINE‐2‐CARBOXYLIC ACID)

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1982

Enzymatic hydroxylation of L-pipecolic acid by L-proline cis-4-hydroxylases and isomers separation

Biotechnology Letters, 2020
Establish a complete and efficient method for the preparation of cis-5-hydroxy-L-pipecolic acids (cis-5HPA), including biotransformation and isomers separation and purification. For non-heme Fe(II)/α-KG-dependent dioxygenases, α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) has great influence on the stability of Fe(II) ions, which is also the basic of the hydroxylation ...

Preparation of Trans‐5‐Hydroxy‐l‐Pipecolic Acid and Cis‐4‐Hydroxy‐l‐Pipecolic Acid from l‐Baikiain (1, 2, 5, 6‐l‐Tetrahydropyridine‐2‐Carboxylic Acid)

Bulletin des Sociétés Chimiques Belges, 1982
AbstractZ‐trans‐5‐OH‐L‐pipecolic acid together with Z‐cis‐4‐OH‐L‐pipecolic acid is obtained in a 7:3 ratio by reduction of the oxymercuration product of Z‐L‐baikiain (Z‐1, 2, 5, 6‐L‐tetrahydropyridine‐2‐carboxylic acid). The opposite composition ratio is obtained using mercuric trifluoroacetate, thus giving access to the preparation of either of the ...

Effect of oral administration of L‐pipecolic acid on food intake in chicks and mice

Animal Science Journal, 2003
AbstractIt has been demonstrated that L‐pipecolic acid (L‐PA), a major metabolic intermediate of L‐lysine (L‐Lys) in the brain, is involved in the functioning of the γ‐aminobutyric acid‐ergic system. Previous study has shown that intracerebroventricular injection of L‐PA suppressed feeding and induced sleep‐like behavior in neonatal chicks. The present

l-Pipecolic acid metabolism in human liver: l-α-aminoadipate δ-semialdehyde oxidoreductase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1990
A soluble enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of L-alpha-aminoadipate delta-semialdehyde to L-alpha-aminoadipic acid in the presence of NAD+ has been isolated and characterized from human liver. This enzyme L-alpha-aminoadipic delta-semialdehyde oxidoreductase has been found to be localized in the cytosol using subcellular fractionation and marker ...

Metabolism and uptake of -pipecolic acid by brain and heart

Life Sciences, 1981
Abstract Metabolism and uptake of L -[1- 14 C]pipecolate was studied in the rat through tail vein injection at low (30 μg/kg) and high (30 mg/kg) doses. No radioactive compound other than L -pipecolate was detected in the brain or heart samples 0.5 to 60 min after injection. The contents of L -pipecolate in the brain dropped rapidly to
