Nuclear Receptors and the Hidden Language of the Metabolome

open access: yesCells
Nuclear hormone receptors (NHRs) are a family of ligand-regulated transcription factors that control key aspects of development and physiology. The regulation of NHRs by ligands derived from metabolism or diet makes them excellent pharmacological targets,

B Cell Activation in Insulin Resistance and Obesity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Our group has demonstrated that inflammatory diseases such as type 2 diabetes (DM), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and periodontal disease (PD) are associated with altered B cell function that may contribute to disease pathogenesis. B cells were found

Therapeutic applications of a novel humanized monoclonal antibody targeting chemokine receptor CCR9 in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
C–C chemokine receptor type 9 (CCR9) is an immune checkpoint in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Novel anti‐CCR9 antibody SRB2 was evaluated in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy in PDAC cells, patient‐derived organoids, patient‐derived xenografts, and humanized mouse models.

Synthesis of N-Pyridin-2-ylmethyl and N-Quinolin-2-ylmethyl Substituted Ethane-1,2-diamines

open access: yesSynOpen, 2017
Two N-(2-(bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino)ethyl)quinoline-2-carboxamides and two N-(2-(bis(quinolin-2-ylmethyl)amino)ethyl)quinoline-2-carboxamides have been synthesized. These structures contain five nitrogen atoms that can form coordinate bonds with metal

Organolead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals: Branched Capping Ligands Control Crystal Size and Stability.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2016
CH3 NH3 PbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) of different sizes (ca. 2.5-100 nm) with high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (QY; ca. 15-55 %) and product yield have been synthesized using the branched molecules, APTES and NH2 -POSS, as capping ...

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Recyclable and Stable α-Methylproline-Derived Chiral Ligands for the Chemical Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of free C,N-Unprotected α-Amino Acids

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
A novel special designed, stable, and recyclable chiral ligand bearing a quaternary carbon was developed for chemical dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of free C,N-unprotected racemic α-amino acids via Schiff base intermediates. This method furnishes

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Transcriptional Profiling of Ligand Expression in Cell Specific Populations of the Adult Mouse Forebrain That Regulates Neurogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
In the adult central nervous system (CNS), the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the forebrain is the largest and most active source of neural stem cells (NSCs) that generates mainly neurons and few glial cells lifelong.

Galanin receptor ligands [PDF]

open access: yesSpringerPlus, 2015
The effect of galanin is mediated through three GPCR subtypes, GalR1-3. The limited number of specific ligands to the galanin receptor subtypes has hindered the understanding of the individual effects of each receptor subtype. This review summarizes the current data of the importance of the galanin receptor subtypes and receptor subtype specific ...
