Maleinized Linseed Oil as Epoxy Resin Hardener for Composites with High Bio Content Obtained from Linen Byproducts

open access: yesPolymers, 2019
Green composites, with more than 78 wt.% of products obtained from linen Linum usitatissimum, were developed in this research work. Epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) was used as bio-based resin, a mix of nadic methyl anhydride (MNA) and maleinized linseed oil

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Carcass and beef quality of crossbred cattle fed increasing linseed oil levels

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2021
Strategies to improve beef nutritional value, mainly fatty acid composition, have been a major goal for the scientific community. The use of different oil contents, mostly those rich in unsaturated fatty acids, can be interesting for cost reduction, as ...

Linseed Oil‐Based Thermosets by Aza‐Michael Polymerization

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2019
Aza-Michael addition on acrylated linseed oil (AELO) was performed to synthetize biobased bulk thermosets without any catalyst. First, acrylation of epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) allowed to obtain acrylate functions with vicinal hydroxyl groups which ...

From Waste to Plant‐Based Protein: Impact of Solid‐State Fermentation on Functionality and Protein Extraction of Cassava Leaves

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Cassava leaves represent a significant waste stream in cassava cultivation, currently underutilized in both food and nonfood applications. This study investigates the use of solid‐state fermentation with Aspergillus oryzae, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Bacillus subtilis to modify the composition and functional ...

Epoxidation of CNSL Mixture, Cardanol, and Cardol: A Sustainable Solution for PVC Plasticization

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, EarlyView.
This study has its focus on the epoxidation of technical cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), used as a PVC plasticizer. Epoxidation significantly enhanced plasticizing properties (increased elongation at break, decreased Young's modulus), along with improved thermal stability and chemical resistance.
