The ectopic deposition of fat in liver and muscle during obesity is well established, however surprisingly little is known about the intestine. We used the ob/ob mouse and C57BL6/J mice fed a high fat (HF) diet to examine the effects of obesity and the ...

We have previously shown (Mansbach, C. M. and P. J. Nevin, 1998. J. Lipid Res. 39: 963–968) that after the development of a mass steady state with respect to triacylglycerol absorption in rats, the introduction of radiolabeled trioleoylglycerol, while ...

New Evidence on the Reliable Use of Stable Isotopes of Bitumen Fractions in Archaeological Research
One of the goals of archaeological studies is to determine how material goods and ideas moved among human populations, and bitumen is a worthy proxy because it has been used since prehistory.

Dietary lipid absorption is dependent on chylomicron production whose rate-limiting step across the intestinal absorptive cell is the exit of chylomicrons from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in its ER-to-Golgi transport vesicle, the prechylomicron ...

Intracellular movement of triacylglycerols in the intestine
The intestine can vary its triacylglycerol output rate depending on differing physiological conditions. The rate-limiting step in the complex process from fatty acid and monoacylglycerol entry to triacylglycerol export is unknown but suggested to be the ...

Clock is important for food and circadian regulation of macronutrient absorption in mice
Clock genes respond to external stimuli and exhibit circadian rhythms. This study investigated the expression of clock genes in the small intestine and their contribution in the regulation of nutrient absorption by enterocytes.

Mécanisme d’absorption intestinale des acides gras à longue chaîne : rôle émergent du CD36
Excessive lipid intake, associated with a qualitative imbalance, favors the development of obesity and associated diseases. From organs involved in the lipid homeostasis, the small intestine remains the most poorly known although it is responsible for ...

Sec24C is required for docking the prechylomicron transport vesicle with the Golgi
The rate-limiting step in the transit of dietary fat across the intestinal absorptive cell is its exit from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in a specialized ER-to-Golgi transport vesicle, the prechylomicron transport vesicle (PCTV).

It was hypothesized that under induced lipid malabsorption/maldigestion conditions, an enriched sn-1(3)-monoacylglycerol (MAG) oil may be a better carrier for n-3 long-chain PUFAs (LC-PUFAs) compared with triacylglycerol (TAG) from fish oil.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
