Fabrication and characterization of chitosan-pectin emulsion-filled hydrogel prepared by cold-set gelation to improve bioaccessibility of lipophilic bioactive compounds

Food Chemistry, 2023
Chitosan-pectin emulsion-filled hydrogel (EFH) was developed to enhance the bioaccessibility of lipophilic bioactive compounds through intestinal delivery. The EFH, incorporating a sodium caseinate-stabilized emulsion, was prepared using cold-set gelation under acidic conditions without crosslinking agents.

Lipophilic Extracts of Cynara cardunculus L. var. altilis (DC): A Source of Valuable Bioactive Terpenic Compounds

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2013
Lipophilic extracts of Cynara cardunculus L. var. altilis (DC) from the south of Portugal (Baixo Alentejo) were studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. One sesquiterpene lactone, four pentacyclic triterpenes, and four sterols were reported for the first time as cultivated cardoon components, namely, deacylcynaropicrin, β- and α-amyrin, lupenyl

Elaboration and characterization of barley protein nanoparticles as an oral delivery system for lipophilic bioactive compounds

Food Funct., 2014
This is the first report in which barley protein nanoparticles were prepared with the aim of developing a delivery system for lipophilic bioactive compounds at ambient temperature using high pressure homogenization. No organic solvents or crosslinking reagents were involved in the nanoparticle preparation.
