GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.

Comparative efficacy of inhalers in mild-to-moderate asthma: systematic review and network meta-analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The comparative effectiveness of different inhaler therapies in mild-to-moderate asthma remains unclear. To assess this, we performed a systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on the use of inhalers for mild-to ...

Nanomedicine Meets Immunotherapy: Advancing Adoptive Cell Therapy with Nanoparticles in the Treatment of Cancer with Sustainability Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.

Long-acting β2-agonists in asthma: enantioselective safety studies are needed

open access: yes, 2018
Long-acting β2-agonists (LABAs) such as formoterol and salmeterol are used for prolonged bronchodilatation in asthma, usually in combination with inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs). Unexplained paradoxical asthma exacerbations and deaths have been associated

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Comparison of the bronchodilator and systemic effects of AZD3199, an inhaled ultra long-acting β2-adrenoceptor agonist (uLABA), with formoterol in patients with asthma.

open access: yes, 2013
Pharmacologically mediated bronchodilation is important in the management of asthma, and is primarily achieved with β2-agonists. Novel compounds should preferably have a longer duration of action and a better systemic side effect profile than established

Patient response and remission in respiratory disease: Special focus on severe asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research
Over the past decades, monoclonal antibodies have been playing a pivotal role in the treatment of chronic inflammatory airway diseases. Currently, ample data are available on the efficacy and safety of biologics in asthma from randomized controlled ...

Effect of Transdermal Tulobuterol Added to Inhaled Corticosteroids in Asthma Patients

open access: yesAllergology International, 2005
Background: Tulobuterol tape is the first long-acting transdermal preparation of a p2-agonist designed to release tulobuterol in an optimal fashion over a 24-hour period.

Lung function response to 12-week treatment with combined inhalation of long-acting β2 agonist and glucocorticoid according to ADRB2 polymorphism in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yes, 2018
Recent reports suggest that β2-adrenergic receptor (ADRB2) genotypes are associated with therapeutic responses to β2 agonists in asthmatics. However, few studies have investigated therapeutic responses to β2 agonists in chronic obstructive pulmonary ...

Formoterol versus short-acting beta-agonists as relief medication for adults and children with asthma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background Formoterol is a long-acting beta(2)-agonist but because it has a fast onset of action it can also be used as a relief medication. Objectives To asses the efficacy and safety of formoterol as reliever therapy in comparison to short-acting ...
