Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, Psilocybin and Dimethyltryptamine in Depression Treatment: A Systematic Review. [PDF]

open access: goldPharmaceuticals (Basel), 2021
Despite many different kinds of substances available for depression treatment, depression itself still appears to be a clinical challenge. Recently, formerly illicit substances came to scientists’ attention, including lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD ...

Methods of Lysergic Acid Synthesis-The Key Ergot Alkaloid. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Ergot is the spore form of the fungus Claviceps purpurea. Ergot alkaloids are indole compounds that are biosynthetically derived from L-tryptophan and represent the largest group of fungal nitrogen metabolites found in nature.

Contribution of a novel gene to lysergic acid amide synthesis in Metarhizium brunneum. [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Res Notes, 2022
Objective The fungus Metarhizium brunneum produces ergot alkaloids of the lysergic acid amide class, most abundantly lysergic acid α-hydroxyethylamide (LAH). Genes for making ergot alkaloids are clustered in the genomes of producers. Gene clusters of LAH-

Construction of an efficient Claviceps paspali cell factory for lysergic acid production. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Bioeng Biotechnol, 2022
Lysergic acid (LA) is the key precursor of ergot alkaloids, and its derivatives have been used extensively for the treatment of neurological disorders. However, the poor fermentation efficiency limited its industrial application.

Increasing lysergic acid levels for ergot alkaloid biosynthesis: Directing catalysis via the F-G loop of Clavine oxidases. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Microbiol, 2023
Most ergot alkaloid drugs are semi-synthetically derived from the natural product lysergic acid, a valuable precursor for the development of novel ergot alkaloid drugs.

Total Synthesis of Lysergic Acid [PDF]

open access: greenOrganic Letters, 2013
A total synthesis of lysergic acid was accomplished. Key features of our synthesis include stereoselective construction of the stereogenic centers at the allylic positions by using the Evans aldol reaction, and a sequential process with a ring-closing metathesis and an intramolecular Heck reaction to construct the C and D rings.
