Protein‐Nanoarchitectures for Low‐Field Intracellular Electro‐Immunomodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DHQ‐SDH‐mediated binding of AuNPs drives the formation of interconnected, chain‐like nanoarchitectures with enhanced electrical conductivity. These conductive assemblies undergo macrophage uptake and enable low‐field electrical stimulation, promoting M1‐to‐M2 phenotypic switching with decreased iNOS and increased CD206 expression. Such protein‐mediated

Exosomes derived from M2 macrophage promote HUVECs proliferation, migration and tube formation in vitro

open access: yesScientific Reports
Angiogenesis is one of the hallmarks of solid tumors. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles, which are involved in multiple stages of tumor progression. The role of macrophage-derived exosomes in angiogenesis in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), where ...

The Role of Macrophage Polarization-Associated Gene Expression in the Oncological Prognosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesGastroenterology Insights
Background: The induced repolarization of tumor growth-promoting M2 macrophages into tumor growth-inhibiting M1 macrophages is a matter of intensive research and is expected to lead towards a novel targetable approach in HCC therapy.

Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.

Ovarian cancer cells direct monocyte differentiation through a non-canonical pathway

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2020
Background Alternatively-activated macrophages (AAMs), an anti-inflammatory macrophage subpopulation, have been implicated in the progression of high grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC). Increased levels of AAMs are correlated with poor HGSOC survival

CSF-1 as a regulator of macrophage activation and immune responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Macrophage activation is a key determinant of susceptibility and pathology in a variety of inflammatory diseases. The extent of macrophage activation is tightly regulated by a number of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g.

Arsenic Induces M2 Macrophage Polarization and Shifts M1/M2 Cytokine Production via Mitophagy

open access: yes, 2022
Arsenic is an environmental factor associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT). Since macrophages play a crucial role in regulating EMT, we studied the effects of arsenic on macrophage polarization.

Conjugated Porphyrin Polymer With Superior Charge Transfer for Photodynamic‐Immunomodulatory Prevention of CIED Infection in Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Under NIR irradiation, PTCPP generates ROS to eliminate MRSA biofilms and promote M1 macrophage polarization for phagocytosis. After bacterial clearance, the material is phagocytosed by macrophages, shifting their polarization to M2 phenotype via metabolic reprogramming, which synergistically enhances anti‐infection therapy and wound healing.

Periodontal ligament cells-derived exosomes promote osteoclast differentiation via modulating macrophage polarization

open access: yesScientific Reports
Several studies have demonstrated that exosomes (Exos) are involved in the regulation of macrophage polarization and osteoclast differentiation. However, the characteristics as well as roles of exosomes from human periodontal ligament cells (hPDLCs-Exos)
