Polysaccharide Functionality in Wine-like Model Systems with Oat and Egg White Model Proteins

open access: yesFermentation
Interactions between wine proteins and polysaccharides have the capacity to regulate the stability, shelf-life, and turbidity of red wines. Understanding these macromolecular interactions helps with maintaining stability and reproducing high quality ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Study of nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation for a rodlike macromolecule using the pseudo-spectral method

open access: yes, 2017
The pseudo-spectral method with the Chebyshev and Legendre polynomials are used in order to compute the electric potential for a rodlike macromolecule located in salt free solution via the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE). Afterwards, verification of the

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Neuropeptide Y reduces macromolecule permeability of coronary endothelial monolayers

open access: yes, 1996
The effect of neuropeptide Y (NPY) on cellular adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) contents and macromolecule permeability was studied in cultured monolayers of microvascular coronary endothelial cells from rat.

Kombucha Bacterial Cellulose: A Promising Biopolymer for Advanced Food and Nonfood Applications

open access: yesFoods
The pellicle is a coproduct of kombucha beverage production without economic value. This material is based on cellulose produced from bacteria and has better physical properties than cellulose isolated from plants. This review systematically analyzed the

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Acute physiological effects on macromolecule digestion following oral ingestion of the enzyme blend Elevase® in individuals that had undergone an ileostomy, but were otherwise healthy—a randomized, double blinded, placebo-controlled exploratory study

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Digestive enzymes can selectively degrade proteins, carbohydrates and lipids; and their supplementation alongside food may accelerate the breakdown of complex food matrices, facilitate greater nutrient absorption, decrease food sensitivities and aid in ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...
