Since December 2019, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has changed our lives.

Angiotensin (1-7) Induces Mas Receptor Internalization [PDF]
Angiotensin (Ang) (1-7) is the endogenous ligand for the G protein–coupled receptor Mas, a receptor associated with cardiac, renal, and cerebral protective responses. Physiological evidence suggests that Mas receptor (MasR) undergoes agonist-dependent desensitization, but the underlying molecular mechanism regulating receptor activity is ...

Indoxyl sulfate downregulates expression of Mas receptor via OAT3/AhR/Stat3 pathway in proximal tubular cells. [PDF]
Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a pivotal role in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Angiotensin converting enzyme-related carboxypeptidase 2 (ACE2)/angiotensin (Ang)-(1-7)/Mas receptor axis counteracts the deleterious actions of Ang II.

Evidence for Heterodimerization and Functional Interaction of the Angiotensin Type 2 Receptor and the Receptor MAS [PDF]
The angiotensin type 2 receptor (AT2R) and the receptor MAS are receptors of the protective arm of the renin–angiotensin system. They mediate strikingly similar actions. Moreover, in various studies, AT2R antagonists blocked the effects of MAS agonists and vice versa. Such cross-inhibition may indicate heterodimerization of these receptors.

This study investigated the action of angiotensin 1–7 (Ang (1–7)) on renal haemodynamic and excretory function in the two‐kidney one‐clip (2K1C) and deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA)‐salt rat models of hypertension, in which the endogenous renin ...

Interaction Between the Angiotensin-(1–7) Mas Receptor and the Dopamine D2 Receptor [PDF]
Ang (angiotensin) 1–7 MasR (Mas receptor) and D2R (dopamine D2 receptor) stimulation is coupled to anti-inflammatory responses. In the present work, we investigated the hypothesis that the anti-inflammatory action mediated by both receptors results from MasR-D2R heteromerization. Human monocyte (THP-1) cells differentiated to macrophages and exposed to

Revising Berg-Purcell for finite receptor kinetics [PDF]
From nutrient uptake, to chemoreception, to synaptic transmission, many systems in cell biology depend on molecules diffusing and binding to membrane receptors. Mathematical analysis of such systems often neglects the fact that receptors process molecules at finite kinetic rates.

The expression of Mas-receptor of the renin–angiotensin system in the human eye [PDF]
The local renin-angiotensin system has been held to be expressed in many organs, including the eye. It has an important role in the regulation of local fluid homeostasis, cell proliferation, fibrosis, and vascular tone. Mas-receptor (Mas-R) is a potential receptor acting mainly opposite to the well-known angiotensin II receptor type 1.

Resolution of complex fluorescence spectra of lipids and nicotinic acetylcholine receptor by multivariate analysis reveals protein-mediated effects on the receptor's immediate lipid microenvironment [PDF]
Analysis of fluorescent spectra from complex biological systems containing various fluorescent probes with overlapping emission bands is a challenging task. Valuable information can be extracted from the full spectra, however, by using multivariate analysis (MA) of measurements at different wavelengths.

Characterization and significance of ACE2 and Mas receptor in human colon adenocarcinoma [PDF]
Introduction: A new arm of the renin–angiotensin system (RAS) has been recently characterized; this includes angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE)2 and angiotensin (Ang)1-7, a heptapeptide acting through the Mas receptor (MasR). Recent studies show that Ang1-7 has an antiproliferative action on lung adenocarcinoma cells.
