Estimating Fusarium head blight severity in winter wheat using deep learning and a spectral index
Abstract Fusarium head blight (FHB) of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum (Fg), reduces grain yield and quality due to the production of the mycotoxin deoxynivalenol. Manual rating for incidence (percent of infected wheat heads/spikes) and severity (percent of spikelets infected) to estimate FHB resistance ...

Fusarium mycotoxins are frequent contaminants in cereals at temperate zone. Next to deoxynivalenol (DON), there are other masked forms of DON, deoxynivalenol-3-glucoside (D3G) or 3(15)-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (3(15)-ADON), but changes among these forms are

Zearalenone (ZEN) in Livestock and Poultry: Dose, Toxicokinetics, Toxicity and Estrogenicity
One of the concerns when using grain ingredients in feed formulation for livestock and poultry diets is mycotoxin contamination. Aflatoxin, fumonisin, ochratoxin, trichothecene (deoxynivalenol, T-2 and HT-2) and zearalenone (ZEN) are mycotoxins that have

Metastatic cholangiocarcinoma in a cow presenting as suspect bovine tuberculosis in Ireland
Abstract Cholangiocarcinoma is a malignant tumour of bile duct epithelial cells, an uncommon primary hepatic neoplasm in cattle. A 9‐year‐old Simmental cow presented with watery diarrhoea, crusty skin lesions, loss of appetite and hepatomegaly. Suspecting severe liver disease, the cow was euthanased due to poor prognosis.

The European Union One Health 2023 Zoonoses report
Abstract This report by the European Food Safety Authority and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control presents the results of zoonoses monitoring and surveillance activities carried out in 2023 in 27 Member States (MSs), the United Kingdom (Northern Ireland) and 10 non‐MSs. Key statistics on zoonoses and zoonotic agents in humans, food,

Metabolism of HT-2 Toxin and T-2 Toxin in Oats
The Fusarium mycotoxins HT-2 toxin (HT2) and T-2 toxin (T2) are frequent contaminants in oats. These toxins, but also their plant metabolites, may contribute to toxicological effects. This work describes the use of 13C-assisted liquid chromatography–high-

Aggregation‐based analytical chemistry in point‐of‐care nanosensors
This review summarizes the recent progress of aggregation‐based analytical chemistry in POC nanosensors. After reviewing the aggregation‐induced “forces” for nanoprobes, the aggregation‐induced signal transductions and POC nanosensors are discussed.

Letting a deep network be aware of the quality of its own predictions is an interesting yet important problem. In the task of instance segmentation, the confidence of instance classification is used as mask quality score in most instance segmentation frameworks.
