Pricing Rainfall Based Futures Using Genetic Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Rainfall derivatives are in their infancy since starting trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) since 2011. Being a relatively new class of financial instruments there is no generally recognised pricing framework used within the literature.

Sublattices of complete lattices with continuity conditions

open access: yes, 2005
Various embedding problems of lattices into complete lattices are solved. We prove that for any join-semilattice S with the minimal join-cover refinement property, the ideal lattice IdS of S is both algebraic and dually algebraic.

Acetylcholine Inhibits Monomeric C-Reactive Protein Induced Inflammation, Endothelial Cell Adhesion, and Platelet Aggregation; A Potential Therapeutic?

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Objectives: In this study, we examined the possibility of using targeted antibodies and the potential of small molecular therapeutics (acetylcholine, nicotine and tacrine) to block the pro-inflammatory and adhesion-related properties of monomeric C ...

Role of Ischemic Preconditioning in the Cardioprotective Mechanisms of Monomeric C-Reactive Protein-Deposited Myocardium in a Rat Model

open access: yesJournal of Chest Surgery, 2021
Background: The deposition of monomeric C-reactive protein (mCRP) in the myocardium aggravates ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and myocardial infarction. Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) is known to protect the myocardium against IRI.

The Cholesterol-Binding Sequence in Monomeric C-Reactive Protein Binds to the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Receptor-Binding Domain and Blocks Interaction With Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
The receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) binds to the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, which is a prerequisite for the virus to enter the cell. C-reactive

Monomeric C-reactive protein affects cell injury and apoptosis through activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase in human coronary artery endothelial cells

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2020
C-reactive protein (CRP) is an important predictor of cardiovascular events and plays a role in vascular inflammation and vessel damage. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pentameric CRP (pCRP) and monomeric CRP (mCRP) on the ...

Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome in children: What to keep an eye on

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the disease course in patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis (TINU) syndrome, focusing on long‐term outcome and the incidence of complications such as chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Monomeric C-Reactive Protein: Current Perspectives for Utilization and Inclusion as a Prognostic Indicator and Therapeutic Target

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Monomeric C-reactive protein (mCRP), once thought to be a figment of the imagination and whose biological activity was ascribed to its sodium azide preservative, has now pronounced itself as a critical molecule playing a direct role in mediating many of ...

Peripheral vascular function, including endothelium‐dependent measures, and dementia risk: The Framingham Heart Study

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The relationship between peripheral vascular health, including endothelia, cognitive decline, and Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia risk is unclear. METHODS In this study, 2844 dementia‐free Framingham Offspring participants (mean age 60.6 years, 53.2% women) had baseline brachial artery flow‐mediated dilation (FMD%) and reactive ...
