Functional Characterization of 5-Oxoproline Transport via SLC16A1/MCT1 [PDF]
Thyrotropin-releasing hormone is a tripeptide that consists of 5-oxoproline, histidine, and proline. The peptide is rapidly metabolized by various enzymes. 5-Oxoproline is produced by enzymatic hydrolysis in a variety of peptides. Previous studies showed that 5-oxoproline could become a possible biomarker for autism spectrum disorders.

CD36‐mediated lipid rewiring in the metabolic adaptation of tumour ecosystems
Nutrient deprivation drives a lipid‐centric shift in tumour metabolic symbiosis and signalling network. CD36 functions as a bidirectional bridge, transferring fatty acids from stromal donors (adipocytes, CAFs) to the ecosystem tumour‐ and microenvironment‐dependently.

Abstract figure legend Propionate in the fetal circulation is thought to originate from fermentation of dietary fibre by the maternal gut microbiota. However, the mechanism of transplacental transport has remained unclear. Here, we measured propionate permeability using a placental barrier model generated by differentiating human placental trophoblast ...

Abstract figure legend Suboptimal maternal nutrition alters placental and developing blood–brain barrier (BBB) protective function and is associated with increased fetal brain vulnerability. In the placenta, nutritional adversity may reduce the exchange surface area and promote meta‐inflammation, compromising barrier efficiency in a model‐ and context ...

Knockdown of Mct1 in the arcuate nucleus increases food-anticipatory activity in mice
Animals rely on internal time-keeping mechanisms to anticipate regular events such as feeding, allowing preemptive gene expression which enables timely physiological responses. A manifestation of anticipatory mechanisms is also a rise in body temperature

Unveiling the Functional Role of KIF21B in Microglia Inflammatory Response
Microglia express KIF21B in both sexes. KIF21B binds to microglia cytoskeleton; inflammation alters such interaction promoting a phagocytic state in females. In male microglia KIF21B modulates migration. ABSTRACT Microglia are brain immune cells that maintain homeostasis and respond to injury, changing cell morphology to drive inflammation, migration ...

ABSTRACTBackgroundLow back pain remains the leading cause of disability worldwide, with intervertebral disc degeneration representing a major biological contributor. Although cell‐based therapies have shown promise in preclinical models, clinical translation has yielded modest and inconsistent outcomes.

ABSTRACT Prostate cancer (PCa) is an endocrine‐related cancer highly dependent on androgenic signaling. Beyond hormone dependence, extrinsic factors play a significant role in the risk of developing PCa, which raises concern about the influence of environmental compounds such as endocrine‐disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Tributyltin (TBT) is an EDC used in
