Primary Vaginal Amelanotic Melanoma

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2005
Objective: Primary vaginal melanoma is a very rare tumor entity, with a poor prognosis. The diagnosis is evident when melanin pigment is present within the tumor.

Paediatric Melanonychia: Diagnosis and Management

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Longitudinal melanonychia (LM) in children presents unique diagnostic and management challenges that cannot be adequately addressed by applying adult‐based criteria. Unlike in adults, there are no validated clinical, dermoscopic or histopathologic criteria for predicting nail unit melanoma in the paediatric population.

Global analysis of gene expression changes during retinoic acid-induced growth arrest and differentiation of melanoma: comparison to differentially expressed genes in melanocytes vs melanoma

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2008
Background The incidence of malignant melanoma has significantly increased over the last decade. Some of these malignancies are susceptible to the growth inhibitory and pro-differentiating effects of all-trans-retinoic acid (RA).

Artificial Intelligence for Identifying Tumor‐Reactive CD8+ T Cells: Biological Principles, Computational Advances, and Future Directions

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
This review details a three‐stage paradigm shift for tumor‐reactive CD8+ T‐cell identification: decoding transcriptomic states, deciphering clonal functional efficacy, and molecular‐level therapeutic TCR design. Addressing translational hurdles and generative AI “scientific blind spots”—such as missing catch bonds—we present a visionary roadmap.

Primary paraganglioma-like dermal melanocytic tumor in a dog

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Veterinary Pathology
Melanocyte-derived tumors are common in humans and dogs. Their natural presentation in dogs is comparable to that of humans. Therefore, the dog has been proposed as a model in comparative pathology.

Paler within the city: Carotenoid‐based colouration covaries negatively with the proportion of impervious surface in great tit (Parus major) territories across Europe

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Across six European cities, great tits in more impervious territories had paler carotenoid‐based plumage, but not lower brightness or UV chroma. This suggests that urban habitat imperviousness is associated specifically with lower carotenoid pigment deposition, rather than broad changes in feather reflectance or structural quality.

Clinical and immunohistochemical analysis of the verrucous and non-verrucous divided nevus of the eyelids

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2022
Purpose Divided nevus with verrucous hyperplasia will always recur after surgery but non-verrucous divided eyelid nevus rarely recur. This study analyzed the differential expression of Ki-67, S100, Melan A and HMB45 and identified the correlation between

Annular pigmented actinic keratosis mimicking lentigo maligna melanoma in a 75-year-old female: An unusual presentation

open access: yesJournal of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics, 2023
Pigmented actinic keratosis (PAK) is an uncommon variant of actinic keratosis that can mimic different pigmented lesions, which may be benign or malignant.

Beta diversity of Arctiinae moths (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) along a recovering tropical forest gradient

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Using novel approaches of Hill‐number based and coverage‐standardized dissimilarity metrics and community‐weighted traits, we show that tiger moth communities exhibit various traits prone to land‐use intensity and undergo a complex and non‐linear response to tropical rainforest recovery, corroborating recent findings on biotic differentiation (Keck et ...

Inhibitory effects of ginsenosides on basic fibroblast growth factor-induced melanocyte proliferation

open access: yesJournal of Ginseng Research, 2017
Background: UV-B-exposed keratinocytes secrete various paracrine factors. Among these factors, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) stimulates the proliferation of melanocytes. Ginsenosides, the major active compounds of ginseng, are known to have broad
