Psychological and immunological associations with movement-evoked low back pain among older adults

open access: yesPAIN Reports
. Introduction:. Low back pain (LBP) is a leading global factor in disability among older adults. Movement-evoked pain (MEP) is potentially an important mediator in the disability pathway but is predominantly tested in the laboratory. Objectives:.

The power of many: when genetics met yeasts and high‐throughput

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In recent years, complex technological capabilities have evolved, driven by the need to solve complex and integrative biological questions through global analyses. New equipment allows the scaling up and automation of processes which previously were carried out on a very limited scale.

Transcriptome profiling of spike provides expression features of genes related to terpene biosynthesis in lavender

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is an important economic plant because of the value of its essential oil (EO). The Yili Valley in Xinjiang has become the largest lavender planting base in China.

Three‐Dimensional Highly Thermally Conductive Graphene Blocks by Multiscale Blending and Multistage Pressure Induction

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
An expandable‐thickness graphene block (GPB) with high thermal conductivity synthesized through multiscale blending and multistage pressure induction (MBP) achieves a record thickness of 12.1 mm, which is more than 10 times that of existing graphene materials. The maximum thermal diffusion ability of GPB‐MBP reaches 6.3 W/K, which offers a new approach

A Specific Process to Purify 2-Methyl-D-Erythritol-4-Phosphate Enzymatically Converted from D-Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate and Pyruvate

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2015
A one-pot enzymatic cascade was established to synthesize MEP, one of the key intermediates in the MEP terpenoid biosynthetic pathway. D-GAP and sodium pyruvate were converted to MEP in a reaction catalyzed by DXP synthase and DXP reductoisomerase (DXR ...

Supramolecular Host‐Guest Complexation Dynamics by Cost‐Efficient Electronic Structure Methods

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We present a cost‐effective multilevel workflow for the kinetic profiling of host–guest systems, illustrated with cucurbit[6]uril and alkylammonium cations. The method combines rapid docking and reaction path searches at the semi‐empirical level, with refinement of the results using modern density functional theory, accurately reproducing experiment ...

The non-mevalonate MEP pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis.

open access: yes, 2013
Isoprenoids are derived from the basic 5-carbon isoprenoid building blocks isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP) and its isomer, dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP).

A Bio‐Based Chiroptical Overcrowded Alkene From Flavanone: Photoreactivity and Theoretical Investigation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A sustainable route to photoresponsive molecular systems is achieved using the bio‐based flavanone (‐)‐isolonchocarpin from Tephrosia vogelii. Through McMurry homocoupling and light‐driven 6‐π‐electrocyclization, an overcrowded alkene and a fluorescent O‐heterocyclic phenanthrene are synthesized.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as a Translational Biomarker in Early‐Phase Anti‐Seizure Medication Development: A Randomized, Double‐Blind, Placebo‐Controlled Study in Generalized Epilepsy

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
One‐third of epilepsy patients remain treatment‐resistant, underscoring the need for novel anti‐seizure medications (ASMs) and reliable biomarkers of central target engagement. Cortical hyperexcitability is a hallmark of epilepsy, making excitability a valuable pharmacodynamic biomarker for early‐phase drug development supporting go/no‐go decision ...
