Centrifugal separation‐assisted and extraction of crude palm oil from separated mesocarp fiber: Central composite design optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In the current research, a centrifugal separator was developed for oil palm fruitlets to separate the mesocarp fibers from the nuts prior to oil extraction, which usually involves grinding the whole palm fruitlets to get the oil.

Effect of Adding Jackfruit Dami (Artocarpus heterophyllus) on the Sensory and Chemical Characteristics of Red Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Fruit Leather

open access: yesJurnal Keteknikan Pertanian Tropis dan Biosistem
This research explores how the use of jackfruit mesocarp waste can improve the sensory and chemical aspects of red dragon fruit skin, considering the high pectin and fiber content in jackfruit dami, despite its lack of taste and color.

Spatio-temporal postharvest changes in texture and fatty acid profiles in avocado fruit from different origins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The degree of ripeness of many climacteric fruits, such as avocado, can be correlated with fleshfirmness and other rheological properties. However, there remains a paucity of information on not only thepostharvest changes in texture of avocado fruit ...

Functional characterization of the MSP-C6 promoter as a potential tool for mesocarp-preferential expression of transgenes

open access: yes, 2023
Modification of lipid composition in the mesocarp tissue of oil palm involves genetic manipulation of multiple genes. More than one mesocarp-preferential promoter is necessary for the expression of individual transgenes in the same plant to obviate ...

Food‐Safe Bioimpedance Monitoring of Table Grapes and Their Post‐Harvest Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
A food‐safe, scalable electrochemical impedance spectroscopy system is introduced for real‐time monitoring of fruit aging and senescence. Edible electrodes are used, alongside an automatized food‐grade probing platform, to enable non‐destructive bioimpedance sensing of table grapes.

Lignin composition correlates with pod dehiscence in hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth)

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Farmers and policy makers are increasingly interested in cover cropping to remedy harms caused by annual cash crop systems. However, species used for cover cropping have limited breeding and improvement histories. The objective of this study was to examine seed pod lignin profiles in relation to pod dehiscence (shatter) in the semi ...
