A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Implication of fibroblast growth factor 7 in ovarian cancer metastases and patient survival

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Background/ObjectivesPatients with ovarian cancer commonly experience metastases and recurrences, which contribute to high mortality. Our objective was to better understand ovarian cancer metastasis and identify candidate biomarkers and drug targets for ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Case report: Relapse of intrathyroidal parathyroid carcinoma in a patient with novel variants in MET and CDKN1C genes

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is one of the rarest malignant neoplasms of the human endocrine system, with a prevalence of approximately 0.005% of all oncological diseases. Despite its indolent course, PC generally relapses in about 40%–60% of cases.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Differentiation between glioblastoma and solitary brain metastases using perfusion and amide proton transfer weighted MRI

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
ObjectivesEarly diagnostic separation between glioblastoma (GBM) and solitary metastases (MET) is important for patient management but remains challenging when based on imaging only. The objective of this study was to assess whether amide proton transfer

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

The survival and safety of metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma treated with lenalidomide as second-line therapy: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly lethal and invasive cancer. Targeted and immunotherapies are the primary treatment options for unresectable advanced HCC.

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Skin metastases: three-year study of 50 cases in a university center [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Introduction. Skin metastases are rare metastases of internal or cutaneous tumors, commonly diagnosed after the primary cancer. Sometimes, they can be the first manifestation of a malignancy.
