Disseminated eruptive giant mollusca contagiosa in an adult psoriasis patient during efalizumab therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Molluscum contagiosum is a common viral skin infection in children with atopic diathesis and not rare in HIV patients. We report a 45-year-old psoriasis patient who developed eruptive mollusca contagiosa during an antipsoriatic treatment with efalizumab.

Voltage Sensing in Bacterial Protein Translocation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The bacterial channel SecYEG efficiently translocates both hydrophobic and hydrophilic proteins across the plasma membrane. Translocating polypeptide chains may dislodge the plug, a half helix that blocks the permeation of small molecules, from its ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Nitric oxide plays a critical role in methotrexate-induced hyperplasia of enterochromaffin cells containing 5-hydroxytryptamine in rat small intestine

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2019
The role of nitric oxide (NO) in the changes in enterochromaffin cells and ileal 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) content induced by a single i.p. administration of methotrexate was investigated in rats.

Histopathological effects of Methotrexate in mice livers [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science, 2014
Background:Methotrexate is a folic acid antagonists that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, resulting in a block in the synthesis of thymidine and inhibition of DNA synthesis. Methotrexate has been used for the treatment of malignancy, rheumatic disorders,

High remission and low relapse with prolonged intensive DMARD therapy in rheumatoid arthritis (PRINT): A multicenter randomized clinical trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objectives: To determine whether prolonged intensive disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) treatment (PRINT) leads to high remission and low relapse rates in patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Orbital pseudotumour masquerading as Wegener’s granulomatosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A twenty-two year old female patient presented with new onset bilateral hard orbital masses and progressively worse tear lake problems. Computed tomography of the orbits revealed poorly differentiated bilateral orbital masses.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Factors related to dosing frequency and route of administration in methotrexate intolerance among patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Drug Safety
Background: Methotrexate is central to the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, its use is often limited by methotrexate intolerance. Objectives: This study aims to explore the association between alternative methotrexate dosing methods and ...
