IntroductionStatins, widely used for hypercholesterolemia, have shown anticancer properties including induction of apoptosis and ferroptosis, modulation of autophagy, and reprogramming of the tumor microenvironment, making them potential candidates for ...

Dynamics of Monoterpene Formation in Spike Lavender Plants
The metabolic cross-talk between the mevalonate (MVA) and the methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathways was analyzed in spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia Med) on the basis of 13CO2-labelling experiments using wildtype and transgenic plants ...

ABSTRACT Indoor vertical farming (VF) offers practical advantages for the cultivation of plant protein bio‐factories including plant uniformity, product consistency, water/nutrient recycling and production cycles on a year‐round basis. Much progress has been achieved toward the development of innovative systems for artificial lighting, automated ...

Inhibition of human mevalonate kinase by allosteric inhibitors of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase
Mevalonate kinase is a key regulator of the mevalonate pathway, subject to feedback inhibition by the downstream metabolite farnesyl pyrophosphate. In this study, we validated the hypothesis that monophosphonate compounds mimicking farnesyl pyrophosphate

Evolution‐Inspired Engineering of Diterpene Biosynthesis via Chloroplast Genome Modification
ABSTRACT Terpenes constitute the largest and most structurally diverse class of plant secondary metabolites, with critical roles in plant‐environment interactions and broad industrial applications. Although nuclear genome engineering of terpene pathways has been extensively explored, chloroplast genome engineering remains largely undeveloped, with all ...

Deciphering Role of Endophytes in Plant Defences and Biotic Stress Resilience Across Families
ABSTRACT Plant families generate distinct repertoires of specialised metabolites that govern their biotic interactions. Endophytes strengthen host plant defence mechanisms and tolerance to biotic challenges by upregulating metabolite biosynthesis, modifying precursor compounds into more potent forms, or by directly synthesising analogous defence ...

In the present work with mouse models, we demonstrate that a novel compound, NEO400, is able to profoundly protect skin against damage caused by UV radiation (UVR) when it is applied to skin post‐UVR exposure. In comparison, Aloe vera or linoleic acid are unable to achieve a similar level of protection.

Metabolism of plasma mevalonate in rats and humans.
A circadian rhythm in plasma mevalonate was identified in human subjects. This variation, over a 5-fold range, is paralleled by a rhythm in urinary excretion.

Negative regulation of cell proliferation by mevalonate or one of the mevalonate phosphates.
The role of mevalonate and its products in the regulation of cellular proliferation was examined using 6-fluoromevalonate (Fmev), a compound that blocks the conversion of mevalonate pyrophosphate to isopentenyl pyrophosphate. Fmev suppressed DNA synthesis by a variety of transformed and malignant T cell, B cell, and myeloid cell lines.
