Significance of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Inhibition by Imidapril for Prevention of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms in Angiotensin II Type 1 Receptor–Knockout Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2013
To clarify the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 inhibitory effect of an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor in vivo, we evaluated the effect of an ACE inhibitor against elastase-induced abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) progression in mice ...

IgG Suppresses Antibody Responses in Mice Lacking C1q, C3, Complement Receptors 1 and 2, or IgG Fc-Receptors. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Antigen-specific IgG antibodies, passively administered to mice or humans together with large particulate antigens like erythrocytes, can completely suppress the antibody response against the antigen.

The accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells participates in abdominal infection‐induced tumor progression through the PD‐L1/PD‐1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores how sepsis affects GC progression by creating an immunosuppressive environment. Our findings reveal that sepsis promotes immune dysregulation, enhancing tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway with monoclonal antibodies shows potential for restoring immune function and improving outcomes in cancer patients ...

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

KMT2A degradation is observed in decitabine‐responsive acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that decitabine (DEC) not only degrades the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 but also the leukemic driver lysine methyltransferase KMT2A likely due to structural similarity of the DNA‐binding CXXC domains. DEC influences KMT2A downstream processes and synergizes with menin inhibitor revumenib (REV) to decrease leukemic cell proliferation, and

Microglial P2Y12 receptor regulates ventral hippocampal CA1 neuronal excitability and innate fear in mice

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2019
The P2Y12 receptor (P2Y12R) is a purinoceptor that is selectively expressed in microglia in the central nervous system. As a signature receptor, microglial P2Y12R mediates process chemotaxis towards ADP/ATP gradients and is engaged in several ...

An algorithm for the optimal solution of variable knockout problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We consider a class of problems related to variable knockout, where knockout means set a variable to zero. Given an optimisation problem formulated as a zero-one integer program the question we consider in this paper is what might be an appropriate set of variables to knockout of the problem, in order that the optimal solution to the problem that ...

Inhibition of acyl‐CoA synthetase long‐chain isozymes decreases multiple myeloma cell proliferation and causes mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

Energy Balance in Cell Phone Radiofrequency Radiation Exposed Mice and Rats [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The National Toxicology Program exposed mice and rats to cell phone radiofrequency radiation. They observer cancers in male rats but not in male mice and different increases in body temperature between mice and rats using identical frequency and intensity exposures.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.
