Extensive Molecular Dynamics Simulations Disclosed the Stability of mPGES‐1 Enzyme and the Structural Role of Glutathione (GSH) Cofactor

open access: yesMolecular Informatics, Volume 41, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A deep in silico investigation of various microsomal prostaglandin E2 synthase‐1 (mPGES‐1) protein systems is here reported using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Firstly, eight different proteins models (Models A−H) were built, starting from the active enzyme trimer system (Model A), namely that bound to three glutathione (GSH) cofactor ...

Comparison of Cholesterol Lowering Diets: Apple, Casein Cytochrom P450 protein and Cholesterol 7α Hydroxylase Activities in Hamsters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Lithogenic diet, casein and apple fiber diets were fed to hamsters for 3-5 weeks. For control group, animals were fed on normal Purina chow without any supplement.

Establishment and characterization of liver‐specific Apoa4‐Cre and Cyp2c11‐Cre rat models in juvenile and adult stages

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
ApoA4‐Cre rats and Cyp2c11‐Cre rats were produced using CRISPR/Cas9 tool. The Cre rats were crossed with Rosa26‐imCherry rats to obtain the Apoa4‐Cre/Rosa26‐imCherry and Cyp2c11‐Cre/Rosa26‐imCherry rats, which showed the specific expression of Cre recombinases in the liver.

Could Duodenal Molecular Mechanisms be Involved in the Hypocholesterolemic Effect of Silicon Used as Functional Ingredient in Late‐Stage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 66, Issue 24, December 2022., 2022
Duodenal mucosa in early‐stage type 2 diabetes mellitus (ED), late‐stage type 2 diabetes mellitus injected with streptozotocin‐nicotinamide (STZ/NAD) (LD) and treated‐silicon LD (LD‐Si) groups. Silicon partially reversed LD group alterations: decreased absorptive area and acyl‐Coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase 2 (ACAT2) levels, and increased ...

Sac1p mediates the adenosine triphosphate transport into yeast endoplasmic reticulum that is required for protein translocation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Protein translocation into the yeast endoplasmic reticulum requires the transport of ATP into the lumen of this organelle. Microsomal ATP transport activity was reconstituted into proteoliposomes to characterize and identify the transporter protein.

Proteomic profiling of impaired excitation–contraction coupling and abnormal calcium handling in muscular dystrophy

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, Volume 22, Issue 23-24, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The X‐linked inherited neuromuscular disorder Duchenne muscular dystrophy is characterised by primary abnormalities in the membrane cytoskeletal component dystrophin. The almost complete absence of the Dp427‐M isoform of dystrophin in skeletal muscles renders contractile fibres more susceptible to progressive degeneration and a leaky ...

Identification of regulatory variants of carboxylesterase 1 (CES1): A proof‐of‐concept study for the application of the Allele‐Specific Protein Expression (ASPE) assay in identifying cis‐acting regulatory genetic polymorphisms

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract It is challenging to study regulatory genetic variants as gene expression is affected by both genetic polymorphisms and non‐genetic regulators. The mRNA allele‐specific expression (ASE) assay has been increasingly used for the study of cis‐acting regulatory variants because cis‐acting variants affect gene expression in an allele‐specific ...
