Mitochondrial Fusion Through Membrane Automata

2014
Studies have shown that malfunctions in mitochondrial processes can be blamed for diseases. However, the mechanism behind these operations is yet not sufficiently clear. In this work we present a novel approach to describe a biomolecular model for mitochondrial fusion using notions from the membrane computing.

Mitochondrial fusion, division and positioning in plants

Biochemical Society Transactions, 2010
Mitochondria are involved in many fundamental processes underpinning plant growth, development and death. Owing to their multiple roles, as the sites of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, as harbourers of their own genomes and as sensors of cell redox status, amongst others, mitochondria are in a unique position to act as ...

In Vitro Assays for Mitochondrial Fusion and Division

2007
Publisher Summary This chapter outlines two methods that have proved instrumental in recapitulating events in vitro assay that occur during mitochondrial division and fusion and led to more mechanistic models of these processes. First, the chapter outlines the methodology behind an assay developed to recapitulate the process of mitochondrial fusion
