Mitochondrial fission factor (MFF) frameshift variant in Bullmastiffs with mitochondrial fission encephalopathy [PDF]
AbstractFamilial cerebellar ataxia with hydrocephalus in Bullmastiffs was described almost 40 years ago as a monogenic autosomal recessive trait. We investigated two young Bullmastiffs showing similar clinical signs. They developed progressive gait and behavioural abnormalities with an onset at around 6 months of age.

Elastocapillary Instability in Mitochondrial Fission [PDF]
Mitochondria are dynamic cell organelles that constantly undergo fission and fusion events. These dynamical processes, which tightly regulate mitochondrial morphology, are essential for cell physiology. Here we propose an elastocapillary mechanical instability as a mechanism for mitochondrial fission.

Mitochondrial Fission and Fusion: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, and Related Disorders
Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that undergo fusion and fission. These active processes occur continuously and simultaneously and are mediated by nuclear-DNA-encoded proteins that act on mitochondrial membranes. The balance between fusion and fission

Mitochondrial fusion, fission, and mitochondrial toxicity [PDF]
Mitochondrial dynamics are regulated by two sets of opposed processes: mitochondrial fusion and fission, and mitochondrial biogenesis and degradation (including mitophagy), as well as processes such as intracellular transport. These processes maintain mitochondrial homeostasis, regulate mitochondrial form, volume and function, and are increasingly ...

Deceleration of fusion-fission cycles improves mitochondrial quality control during aging. [PDF]
Mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy play a key role in ensuring mitochondrial quality control. Impairment thereof was proposed to be causative to neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, and cancer.

Mitochondrial membrane tension governs fission [PDF]
Abstract During mitochondrial fission, key molecular and cellular factors assemble on the outer mitochondrial membrane, where they coordinate to generate constriction. Constriction sites can eventually divide, or reverse upon disassembly of the machinery. However, a role for membrane tension in mitochondrial fission, although speculated,
