Effects of Different Packaging on the Purine Content and Key Enzymes of Refrigerated Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys crocea)

open access: yesFoods
In this study, we investigated the effects of air packaging, vacuum packaging and modified atmosphere packaging (CO2/N2: 80/20) on the purine metabolism and enzyme activities of refrigerated large yellow croakers.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Physically Based Rendering of the Martian Atmosphere

open access: yes, 2013
With the introduction of complex precomputed scattering tables by Bruneton in 2008, the quality of visualizing atmospheric scattering vastly improved. The presented algorithms allowed for the rendering of complex atmospheric features such as multiple ...

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

Role of Modified Atmosphere in Pest Control and Mechanism of Its Effect on Insects

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Pests not only attack field crops during the growing season, but also damage grains and other food products stored in granaries. Modified or controlled atmospheres (MAs or CAs) with higher or lower concentrations of atmospheric gases, mainly oxygen (O2),

Plasma EV Proteomics Identifies ECM Remodeling and Inflammatory Proteins LUM and C7 as Candidate Biomarkers in FSHD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
