The ChnagG gene in Cochliobolus heterostrophus encodes 5‐salicylate hydroxylase, converting salicylic acid (SA) to gentisic acid, enhancing pathogenicity and suppressing plant SA signalling‐mediated defences during infection. ABSTRACT Salicylic acid (SA) plays a crucial role in the defence strategies of plants against fungal pathogens.

Abstract The affinity of mushroom tyrosinase for alternariol (AOH) and alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), mycotoxins of the Alternaria alternata genus, is verified both spectroscopically and electrochemically. Commercial enzyme and fresh mushroom tissue were employed for electrochemical measurements.

Enzymatic synthesis of the modified mycotoxins 3-lactyl- and 3-propionyl-deoxynivalenol
The use of lactic acid bacteria as a low-cost sustainable management tool to prevent further build-up of Fusarium mycotoxins during grain storage is increasingly propagated. It has been reported that even deoxynivalenol contamination already formed in the field can be reduced by such treatment in unknown ways.

Characterization of 27 mycotoxin detoxifiers and the relation with in vitro zearalenone binding [PDF]
Addition of mycotoxin detoxifiers to feed is a common practice to counteract the deleterious effects of mycotoxins on animal health. Although a variety of this kind of feed additives is available on the market, little is known about their detailed ...

Fusarium in wheat. Effects of soil fertility strategies and nitrogen levels on mycotoxins and seedling blight. [PDF]
In a two-year field experiment in the Netherlands the relation between three soil fertility strategies, additional nitrogen levels and Fusarium Head Blight in wheat are explored. There was a substantial year-effect, as could be expected.

Modified and unmodified b-cyclodextrins as mycotoxin receptors
A great number of food matrices have been recognized as susceptible to mycotoxin contamination. The toxicological effects of these mycotoxins when ingested by animal and humans and the possibility to find them in finished products are causing great concern among producers and consumers.

Consumers’ willingness to pay for food safety: the case of mycotoxins in milk [PDF]
European statistics show that one of the most widespread source of health risks related to food is mycotoxins. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the Italian consumers’ perception of the mycotoxins’ risk and, more specifically, their willingness ...
