Impacts of Hydrothermal Treatments on the Morphology, Structural Characteristics, and In Vitro Digestibility of Water Caltrop Starch

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
The influence of hydrothermal treatments on the structural properties and digestibility of water caltrop starch was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed some small dents on the surface of starch granules for samples treated with heat ...

Effect of Single and Dual Hydrothermal Treatments on the Resistant Starch Content and Physicochemical Properties of Lotus Rhizome Starches

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Heat-moisture treatment (HMT) changed the morphology and the degree of molecular ordering in lotus rhizome (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.) starch granules slightly, leading to some detectable cavities or holes near hilum, weaker birefringence and granule ...

Produksi Pati Termodifikasi dari Beberapa Jenis Pati

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Kimia & Lingkungan, 2010
Starch is modified for three reasons. First, modified starch provides functional attributes in food applications that native starches normally cannot provide. Second, starch is abundant and readily available.

Compatibility, Morphology, Mechanical Properties and Biodegradability of Poly(styrene-ethylene-propylenestyrene)/ Modified Thermoplastic Starch Blends [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2016
The effect of modified starch on the properties of poly(styrene-ethylenepropylene- styrene) tri-block copolymer was studied. Chemical treatment of starch with maleic anhydride was accomplished in an internal mixer in the presence of glycerol.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
