Dietary fats are converted into chylomicron triacylglycerols via the 2-monoacylglycerol and phosphatidic acid pathways of acylglycerol formation. In view of the known positional and fatty acid specificity of the acyltransferases, the triacylglycerol ...

Synthesis of monoacylglycerols by enzymatic methods
Monoacylglycerols are non-ionic surfactants widely used in the food industry. They are also important in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries as drug carriers and for the consistency improvements in creams and lotions. Current process for their production is based on the glycerolysis of natural fats and oils in the presence of inorganic catalysts at ...

Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) alleviate hepatic steatosis in obese mice by shifting energy buffering towards phosphocreatine and enhancing lysosomal lipid degradation and trafficking. These effects are associated with increased creatine kinase activity and lysobisphosphatidic acid (LBPA) levels, highlighting a previously unrecognised ...

Tapetal Expression of BnaC.MAGL8.a Causes Male Sterility in Arabidopsis
Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) hydrolyzes monoacylglycerol, producing free fatty acid and glycerol. Although this enzyme has been shown to play important roles in mammal, its potential function in plants remains poorly understood. In a survey of the MAGL

The malate–aspartate shuttle supports thermogenic lipid mobilization in brown adipocytes
Brown fat cells burn lipids within their mitochondria to generate heat. This process involves two energy “shuttles,” one of which is naturally blocked during heat production. We found that the second shuttle (MASh) is not required to generate heat. However, when MASh is disabled, the fatty acids meant for fuel are instead converted back into stored fat.

Ontogeny of microsomal activities of triacylglycerol synthesis in guinea pig liver.
Because the onset of triacylglycerol-rich lipoprotein synthesis occurs in guinea pig liver during fetal life, we investigated the microsomal enzyme activities of triacylglycerol synthesis in fetal and postnatal guinea pig liver.

Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

Of Mice and MAGL (Monoacylglycerol Lipase)
About 18.8 million American adults suffer depressive disorders that may occur with anxiety and substance abuse. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a compound in marijuana, is a cannabinoid chemical that binds to and activates cannabinoid receptors (CB1) in the pre‐synaptic cell membrane as part of neuron‐to‐neuron transmission in the ...

This scheme illustrates the main results of the present study showing an increase in circulating free fatty acids (FFA) that are likely to be related to several mechanisms like decrease in FFA insulin sensitivity and increase in FFA production. Significant changes are labelled in white, and non‐significant or hypothesis are labelled in pale green ...
