Phenomenological analysis of ATP dependence of motor proteins.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
In this study, through phenomenological comparison of the velocity-force data of processive motor proteins, including conventional kinesin, cytoplasmic dynein and myosin V, I found that, the ratio between motor velocities of two different ATP ...

Realistic Models of Biological Motion

open access: yes, 1998
The origin of biological motion can be traced back to the function of molecular motor proteins. Cytoplasmic dynein and kinesin transport organelles within our cells moving along a polymeric filament, the microtubule.

Role of cytoskeletal motor proteins in viral infection.

open access: yesPostępy Higieny i Medycyny Doświadczalnej, 2012
Cytoskeleton, composed of actin filaments, microtubules and intermediate filaments, regulates many processes in the cell, e.g. intracellular transport. Actin and microtubules are polarized structures, along which bidirectional transport of motor proteins

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A Genome-wide RNAi Screen for Microtubule Bundle Formation and Lysosome Motility Regulation in Drosophila S2 Cells

open access: yesCell Reports, 2016
Long-distance intracellular transport of organelles, mRNA, and proteins (“cargo”) occurs along the microtubule cytoskeleton by the action of kinesin and dynein motor proteins, but the vast network of factors involved in regulating intracellular cargo ...

Structure of Flagellar Motor Proteins in Complex Allows for Insights into Motor Structure and Switching

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2012
Background: The flagellar motor generates bidirectional rotation using the proteins FliG, FliM, and CheY and membrane-bound stator complexes. Results: The structures of portions of FliG and FliM in complex allow for insights into switching and structure.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Cytoplasmic microtubule sliding An unconventional function of conventional kinesin

open access: yesCommunicative & Integrative Biology, 2010
There are well known examples in nature of microtubules dramatically changing their function by re-organizing their structure. Most interphase animal cells rely on the radial organization of the microtubule network for precise cargo delivery.

Transport of organelles by elastically coupled motor proteins

open access: yes, 2016
Motor-driven cargo transport is a complex phenomenon where multiple motor proteins attached on to a cargo engage in pulling activity, often leading to tug-of-war, displaying bidirectional motion. However, most mathematical and computational models ignore

Motor proteins: A dynamic duo [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 1996
The interactions between the microtubule motor cytoplasmic dynein and its putative regulator dynactin have been shown to be dynamic and complex.
