Mapping of transcription termination within the S segment of SFTS phlebovirus facilitated the generation of NSs-deletant viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
SFTS phlebovirus (severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus; SFTSV) is an emerging tick-borne bunyavirus that was first reported in China in 2009. Here we report the generation of a recombinant SFTSV (rHB29NSsKO) that cannot express the viral non-

Self-assembled mRNA vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2021
mRNA vaccines have evolved from being a mere curiosity to emerging as COVID-19 vaccine front-runners. Recent advancements in the field of RNA technology, vaccinology, and nanotechnology have generated interest in delivering safe and effective mRNA therapeutics. In this review, we discuss design and self-assembly of mRNA vaccines.

Tailoring Vascular‐Immune Homeostasis via Manganese‐DNA Complex‐Armed Immunogenic Extracellular Vesicles for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Mn2⁺–tumor DNA complexes encapsulated in dendritic cell (DC)– derived immunogenic extracellular vesicles (EVDC@Mn‐DNA) act as a DC‐specific cGAS– STING activator. EVDC@Mn‐DNA treatment enhances intratumoral DC activation, improves tumor vascular function, promotes CD8⁺ T cell activity, and suppresses pancreatic tumor growth,

An mRNA vaccine provides effective protection against Duck Tembusu Virus infection

open access: yesnpj Vaccines
As an emerging flavivirus, Duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) causes severe neurological disorder and acute egg drop syndrome in poultry. Herein, we report the development of a highly effective mRNA vaccine against DTMUV using lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery ...

RNF213 Is an Interferon‐Stimulated Gene That Targets Influenza A Virus NP and Activates MDA5 to Restrict Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)

PEDV-spike-protein-expressing mRNA vaccine protects piglets against PEDV challenge

open access: yesmBio
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), a swine enteropathogenic coronavirus, causes severe diarrhea in neonatal piglets, which is associated with a high mortality rate.

RNA interference approaches for treatment of HIV-1 infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
HIV/AIDS is a chronic and debilitating disease that cannot be cured with current antiretroviral drugs. While combinatorial antiretroviral therapy (cART) can potently suppress HIV-1 replication and delay the onset of AIDS, viral mutagenesis often leads to

Marburg Virus Glycoprotein Is a Remarkable Virulent Factor Linked to Hemorrhagic Pathology: Evidence from Multimodal Experimental Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating data from in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models, our research identifies the MARV glycoprotein as a remarkable hemorrhagic factor, filling a major gap in this important field. It also provides practical experimental tools for the basic research on viral pathogenesis and applied research aimed at antiviral intervention for hemorrhagic ...

Varicella zoster virus mRNA vaccine candidate induced superior cellular immunity and comparable humoral and Fc-mediated immunity compared to the licensed subunit vaccine in a mouse model

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics
The threat of herpes zoster (HZ) is increasing, particularly in the elderly and immunocompromised individuals. Although two platform vaccines are currently available for HZ prevention, the low effectiveness of the live attenuated varicella-zoster virus ...

NIBV Induces Incomplete Autophagy via AMPK‐TFEB, Causing Kidney Injury in Chicks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that NIBV can inhibit the nuclear translocation of TFEB by suppressing the expression of AMPK, leading to the blockade of autophagolysosomal functions, in turn increasing NIBV replication and triggering severe kidney injury in chicks.
