Parasympathetic Tone Selectively Modulates Electrogram Fragmentation and Spectral Properties in Right Atrial Ganglionated Plexi

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
Electrogram fragmentation and spectral EGMs features in GPs area are selectively modulated by parasympathetic tone, as demonstrated by high‐density right atrial mapping before and after vagal blockade. EGMs, bipolar atrial electrograms; GPs, ganglionated plexi; RA, right atrium.

Acetylcholine muscarinic M2 receptor maintains human Schwann-like adipose-derived phenotype in the absence of differentiating medium

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Human adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs), differentiated in vitro towards Schwann-like phenotype (hdASCs), have been suggested as an alternative source of Schwann cells (SCs).

Review of nutrition management of pediatric intestinal pseudo‐obstruction

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 1048-1060, August 2026.
Abstract Chronic intestinal pseudo‐obstruction (CIPO) is a rare, heterogeneous, and debilitating disorder characterized by profound intestinal dysmotility and severe nutrition challenges. Its presentation resembles that of mechanical bowel obstruction, but CIPO occurs in the absence of luminal obstruction.

Involvement of HCN Channel in Muscarinic Inhibitory Action on Tonic Firing of Dorsolateral Striatal Cholinergic Interneurons

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2016
The striatum is the most prominent nucleus in the basal ganglia and plays an important role in motor movement regulation. The cholinergic interneurons (ChIs) in striatum are involved in the motion regulation by releasing acetylcholine (ACh) and ...

Effects of Icariin and Its Metabolites on GPCR Regulation and MK-801-Induced Schizophrenia-Like Behaviors in Mice

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Icariin, a major bioactive compound found in the Epimedium genus, has been reported to exert protective effects against neurodegenerative disorders. In the current study, we aimed to investigate the regulatory effect of icariin and its active metabolites

In Vivo Evaluation of Psoralen in a Copper Sulfate–Induced Chick (Gallus gallus domesticus) Emesis Model and In Silico Analysis of Its Interaction With D2, 5‐HT3A, and Muscarinic Receptors

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
Psoralen (PSN) demonstrates significant dose‐dependent antiemetic activity in a copper sulfate–induced chick emesis model. Integrated in vivo and in silico analyses reveal reduced retching frequency, prolonged latency, and favorable multi‐receptor interactions with D2, 5‐HT3A, and muscarinic receptors, highlighting PSN as a promising multi‐target ...

Chemogenetic Activation of G12 Signaling Thickens the Epidermis With Enhanced Barrier Function

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
In this study, we investigated the role of G12 signaling in the epidermis using a keratinocyte‐specific chemogenetic approach. Activation of G12 signaling promoted keratinocyte differentiation and enhanced epidermal barrier function by upregulating filaggrin, claudin‐1, and ceramide.

The Role of Voltage-Gated Sodium Channel 1.8 in the Effect of Atropine on Heart Rate: Evidence From a Retrospective Clinical Study and Mouse Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Atropine is commonly used to counter the effects of the parasympathetic neurotransmitter acetylcholine on heart rate in clinical practice, such as in the perioperative period; however, individual differences in the response to atropine are huge.

The structure of the third intracellular loop of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M2 subtype [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2005
We have examined whether the long third intracellular loop (i3) of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M2 subtype has a rigid structure. Circular dichroism (CD) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of M2i3 expressed in and purified from Escherichia coli indicated that M2i3 consists mostly of random coil.

Multivalent antibody‐based conjugates as new tools for tailored modulation of G protein–coupled receptors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4512-4531, August 2026.
The G protein–coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily consists of the most common targets of approved drugs. Targeting GPCRs offers appealing avenues for therapeutic development. Antibodies and their fragments, such as single‐domain antibodies (VHHs or nanobodies), have emerged as useful alternatives to small molecule pharmacophores as building blocks in ...
