YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Association of overexpressed MYC gene with altered PHACTR3 and E2F4 genes contributes to non-small cell lung carcinoma pathogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2019
Background: C-Myc is one of the major cellular oncogenes overexpressed in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Its deregulated expression is necessary but not sufficient for malignant transformation.

Finding MYCure

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2019
Inhibiting the nuclear protein MYC involved in the majority of human cancers has long been considered an impossible mission and several technical challenges have discouraged the development of MYC inhibitory strategies.

MYC-Luciferase Reporter Assay and q-PCR for MYC at the same timing with Luc-assay

open access: yes, 2020
A luciferase reporter harboring -3.1 kb of the MYC promoter region was integrated into a pGL4 vector (Promega). A pT3.5-CAG-M1AP was generated with pENTR221-M1AP and pT3.5-CAG-DEST (Kurata M et al., PLoS One, 2018, PMID:30222773) using Gateway® LR ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Divergent DNA methylation patterns and gene expression in MYC and CDKN2B in canine transmissible venereal tumors [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World
Background and Aim: Canine transmissible venereal tumor (CTVT), a unique transmissible cancer in dogs, affects the external genitalia and potentially spreads to other parts of the body. While somatic mutations in oncogenic and tumor-suppressing genes are

Life or cell death: identifying c-Myc regulated genes in two distinct tissues [PDF]

open access: yes
The c-myc oncogene is over-expressed or deregulated in many human cancers. c-myc encodes a transcription factor, the oncoprotein c-Myc (Myc), which acts as a master regulator of genes involved in such diverse cellular processes as replication and growth,
