“Low‐Positive” MOG‐IgG Cases Among Adults With a First Event Suggestive of Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the prevalence and clinical characteristics of patients with “low‐positive” (LP) MOG‐IgG (titres 1:160–1:320) among adults with a first demyelinating event (FDE) suggestive of multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods From the Barcelona CIS inception cohort, we included adult patients with serum collected ≤ 6 months from the FDE.

Radiological characteristics of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease [PDF]

open access: yesMultiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, 2019
MOG antibody disease is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by the presence of a serological antibody against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). MRI is instrumental in distinguishing neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) from multiple sclerosis (MS), but MRI features of MOG disease appear to overlap ...

Evaluation of Dried Plasma Spot‐Based Quantification of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein as a Disease‐Associated Biomarker in Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) measured in dried plasma spots versus conventional plasma‐ and serum‐GFAP testing for assessment of disease severity in aquaporin‐4 immunoglobulin G–positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4‐IgG+ NMOSD).

Overlapping demyelinating syndrome and anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor encephalitis with seizures

open access: yesEpilepsy & Behavior Reports, 2019
Anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis, the most recognized type of autoimmune encephalitis, manifests with rapid cognitive decline, psychosis, and seizures that develop in 78–86% of patients.

Mitochondria‐Targeted Nanotherapies in Aging Neurodegenerative Disorders: Emerging Prospects and Clinical Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Mitochondria‐targeted nanotherapies emerge as a promising strategy for combating aging‐associated neurodegenerative disorders (NDs) by restoring mitochondrial function, reducing oxidative stress, and improving neuronal survival. Recent advances in nanotechnology, therapeutic delivery, and translational research are highlighted, providing insights into ...

Ionizable Lipid‐Dependent Optimization of Steroid Lipid Nanoparticles With Tunable Immunomodulatory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel engineering strategy that establishes material design principles for incorporating anti‐inflammatory steroids into lipid nanoparticles to reduce LNP‐induced inflammation while retaining mRNA delivery. Results are validated in vitro and in three animal models of inflammation and autoimmunity in vivo.

Oligodendrocyte-myelin glycoprotein is present in lipid rafts and caveolin-1-enriched membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The oligodendrocyte-myelin glycoprotein is a ligand of the neuronal Nogo receptor and a potent inhibitor of neurite outgrowth, but its physiological function remains to be elucidated.

Deciphering the conformational dynamics of Myelin Oligodendrocyte glycoprotein in the myelin sheath

open access: yesJournal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics
Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) is a transmembrane protein in the myelin sheath. It acts as an auto-antigen under certain unknown conditions causing demyelination, thus resulting in Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-associated Disease (MOGAD).

TH/TRs–COL11A2 Axis Mediates Loss of a Differentiated Astrocyte State in Hypogyrified Brains

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a gyrencephalic congenital hypothyroidism pig model, this study reveals cerebral atrophy and cortical hypogyrification. Single‐cell sequencing identifies astrocytes as major TH‐responsive cells, with the COL11A2‐enriched Astro‐2 state nearly absent.

Peptide-based immunotherapy of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis without anaphylaxis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Administration of peptide antigens in tolerogenic form holds promise as a specific treatment for autoimmune and allergic disorders. However, experiments in rodent autoimmune models have highlighted the risk of anaphylaxis in response to systemic peptide ...
