Dysregulation of NAD+ metabolism induces a Schwann cell dedifferentiation program [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Schwann cell (SC) is the major component of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) that provides metabolic and functional support for peripheral axons. The emerging roles of SC mitochondrial function for PNS development and axonal stability indicate the

Connexin32 and X-linked Charcot–Marie–Tooth Disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 1997
Mutations in the gap junction geneconnexin32(Cx32) cause the X-linked form of Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease, an inherited demyelinating neuropathy. More than 130 different mutations have been described, affecting all portions of the Cx32 protein.

Sonographic Anatomy and Imaging of the Extracranial Component of the Hypoglossal Nerve (CNXII)

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
The hypoglossal nerve (HN) provides motor innervation to tongue muscles responsible for tongue movement, speech, mastication, swallowing, respiratory functions and management of oral secretions. The intracranial component of the HN can be demonstrated on magnetic resonance imaging and the extracranial component can be demonstrated with sonographic ...
