Talin Is Required Continuously for Cardiomyocyte Remodeling during Heart Growth in Drosophila. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Mechanotransduction of tension can govern the remodeling of cardiomyocytes during growth or cardiomyopathy. Tension is signaled through the integrin adhesion complexes found at muscle insertions and costameres but the relative importance of signalling ...

The effect of complex training on horizontal power production in rugby union players : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The use of strength and power training regimes is common place among elite and recreational athletes. However, the application of such methods as direct determinants of improvement in sporting performance is a controversial and much debated topic because

Effect of myofibril passive elastic properties on the mechanical communication between motor proteins on adjacent sarcomeres

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Rapid sarcomere lengthening waves propagate along a single muscle myofibril during spontaneous oscillatory contraction (SPOC). In asynchronous insect flight muscles, SPOC is thought to be almost completely synchronized over the entire myofibril.

Iron/Cobalt Dual‐Atom Catalyst Orchestrate Photothermal‐Chemodynamic Immunotherapy Against MRSA: Multi‐Omics Dissection in Murine and Porcine Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FeCo dual‐atom catalyst (FeCo‐N‐DAC) with ultrahigh metal loading (Fe > 5.4%, Co > 4.8%) is developed for synergistic photothermal‐chemodynamic immunotherapy. FeCo‐N‐DAC penetrates deep‐seated tissues, eradicates MRSA biofilms, and reprograms immune‐inflammatory pathways via multi‐omics‐validated mechanisms.

Highly Homologous Filamin Polypeptides Have Different Distributions in Avian Slow and Fast Muscle Fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The high molecular weight actin-binding protein filamin is located at the periphery of the Z disk in the fast adult chicken pectoral muscle (Gomer, R. H., and E. Lazarides, 1981, Cell, 23: 524-532).

Dual‐Responsive Yarn‐Based Artificial Muscles for Adaptive Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the conscious movements of skeletal muscle, a novel hybrid yarn‐based artificial muscle (HYAM) coupling moisture actuation with controllable recovery is developed. This unique design increases actuation stroke by 128% and shortens recovery time by 91%. This unique design enhances the actuation stroke by 128% and reduces the recovery time by

Chromosome movement in lysed mitotic cells is inhibited by vanadate. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Mitotic PtK1 cells, lysed at anaphase into a carbowax 20 M Brij 58 solution, continue to move chromosomes toward the spindle poles and to move the spindle poles apart at 50% in vivo rates for 10 min.
