From glycosylation to deglycosylation: Unraveling the complete deglycosylation processing pathway of rhodopsin

open access: yesScience Progress
N-linked glycosylation is a prevalent post-translational modification during protein maturation, which plays a pivotal role in protein folding, stability, localization, and oligomerization.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Multi-task learning sparse group lasso: a method for quantifying antigenicity of influenza A(H1N1) virus using mutations and variations in glycosylation of Hemagglutinin

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2020
Background In addition to causing the pandemic influenza outbreaks of 1918 and 2009, subtype H1N1 influenza A viruses (IAVs) have caused seasonal epidemics since 1977.

Profiling neoadjuvant therapy response in rectal cancer using meta‐analysis of publicly available transcriptomic RNA‐seq datasets

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates publicly available transcriptomic datasets to identify molecular signatures associated with response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. By analyzing a combination of multiple cohorts with bioinformatics approaches, we reveal biological pathways and immune‐related features that may improve ...

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Congential and ethanol-induced disorders of N-linked protein glycosylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Protein glycosylation is an essential protein modification existing in all domains of life. About 2% of the human genome is involved in the glycosylation machinery and 50% of the human proteins are modified with glycans.

High glucose induces N-linked glycosylation-mediated functional upregulation and overexpression of Cav3.2 T-type calcium channels in neuroendocrine-like differentiated human prostate cancer cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2017
Given that Cav3.2 T-type Ca2+ channels were functionally regulated by asparagine (N)-linked glycosylation, we examined effects of high glucose on the function of Cav3.2, known to regulate secretory function, in neuroendocrine-like differentiated prostate
