The effect of NBR1 on tombusvirus replication in N. benthamiana plants.

open access: yes
(A) Top panel: The accumulation of TBSV RNAs in NBR1-silenced (NBR1 KD) inoculated leaves of N. benthamiana at 2 dpi was measured by northern blot analysis. Sap inoculation with TBSV was done 10 days after silencing of NBR1 expression.

LSU family members and NBR1 are novel factors that contribute to homeostasis of catalases and peroxisomes in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesScientific Reports
The short coiled-coil LSU (RESPONSE TO LOW SULFUR) proteins are linked to sulfur metabolism and have numerous protein partners. However, most of these partners lack direct links to sulfur metabolism, and the role of such interactions remains elusive ...

Requirement of the LIR motif for the critical role of NBR1 in heat tolerance.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Diagrams of wild-type and mutant NBR1 proteins. The conserved W and I residues in the LIR motif between the two UBA domains were changed to A residues in the NBR1W661A/I664A (mNBR1) mutant protein. (B) Five weeks-old Arabidopsis Col-0 wild type (WT),

Subversion of selective autophagy for the biogenesis of tombusvirus replication organelles inhibits autophagy.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
Elaborate viral replication organelles (VROs) are formed to support positive-strand RNA virus replication in infected cells. VRO formation requires subversion of intracellular membranes by viral replication proteins.

A proposed model for CHIP- and NBR1-mediated antiproteotoxic pathways.

open access: yes, 2014
Stress conditions such as high temperature cause generation of misfolded and damaged proteins. Chaperone-associated E3 ubiquitin ligase CHIP ubiquitinates soluble misfolded proteins that are associated with chaperone molecules and targets their ...

NBR1 helps autophagosomes take a bite out of focal adhesions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 2016
![Figure][1] Autophagosomes (black) target focal adhesions (magenta) at the leading edge of a migrating cell. [Kenific et al.][2] identify a selective autophagy pathway that promotes cell migration by enhancing the turnover of focal adhesions.

Neighbor of Brca1 gene (Nbr1) functions as a negative regulator of postnatal osteoblastic bone formation and p38 MAPK activity

open access: yes, 2010
The neighbor of Brca1 gene (Nbr1) functions as an autophagy receptor involved in targeting ubiquitinated proteins for degradation. It also has a dual role as a scaffold protein to regulate growth-factor receptor and downstream signaling ...

Recruitment of autophagy initiator TAX1BP1 advances aggrephagy from cargo collection to sequestration

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal
Autophagy mediates the degradation of harmful material within lysosomes. In aggrephagy, the pathway mediating the degradation of aggregated, ubiquitinated proteins, this cargo material is collected in larger condensates prior to its sequestration by ...

Autophagy turns specific: the discovery of p62 and NBR1 as autophagy cargo receptors [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Proceedings, 2010
Cellular proteins and organelles are constantly damaged as a result of cell-stress, expression of mutated genes or aging by itself. Autophagy is the principle cellular mechanism for turnover of damaged organelles and long-lived proteins. Autophagy is initiated by the formation of a cytoplasmic double membrane that grows to make a double membrane ...

Intronic T-DNA insertion in Arabidopsis NBR1 conditionally affects wild-type transcript level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The SALK_135513 line of Arabidopsis thaliana is annotated by GenBank to have the T-DNA insertion in the fourth exon of NBR1 (At4g24690). Careful molecular analyses of the homozygous plants of SALK_135513 line indicated the place of T-DNA insertion in ...
