Improving genetic diagnosis of hereditary tumor syndromes: From expanded gene panels to functional genomics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Genetic tumor risk syndromes (genturis) contribute substantially to the overall cancer burden and provide opportunities for early detection, prevention, and individualized treatment. Yet, many affected individuals remain undiagnosed due to restrictive testing criteria and challenges in variant interpretation.

Nested-PCR for detection of Brucella in milk

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2008
To detect Brucella inflection in milk, a nested-PCR assay was developed by designing outward-directed and inward-directed primers for omp25, omp31 and 16S rRNA genes of Brucella abortus, and optimizing the extraction of Brucella genomic DNA. The results show that two rounds of amplification with the two pairs of synthesized primers F4/R2 and F2D/R1U ...

Lung Cancer Patients Display Increased Expression of Bovine Meat and Milk Factor (BMMF) Proteins in Peritumor Alveolar Macrophages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Plasmid‐like DNA sequences frequently found in bovine milk and serum have been proposed as infectious agents promoting indirect carcinogenesis. This multi‐omics study detected immune cells positive for these bovine meat and milk factors (BMMFs) in patients with lung cancer, with BMMF expression inversely correlated with smoking intensity.

Changes in the gut microbiome during fasting‐induced molting and its effects on gut–liver function

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
During fasting, harmful microbiota and metabolites rise, triggering intestinal injury and activation of the TGF‐β signaling pathway, which enhances intestinal stem cell proliferation. Concurrently, hepatic function declines, indicated by increased hepatic and serum bile acids and upregulation of the non‐classical bile acid synthesis pathway.

Sel1l preserves condylar cartilage matrix homeostasis by regulating PERK signaling

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Our study revealed that the expression of Sel1l was downregulated in OA cartilage and that Sel1l deficiency induced cartilage catabolism. Mechanistically, Sel1l depletion aberrantly activated PERK signaling and resulted in ER stress. PERK inhibition rescued the phenotype of Sel1l‐deficient chondrocytes and alleviated TMJOA pathogenesis.

The Helping Alliance Questionnaire for Children and Their Caregivers—Validation in a German Sample of Pediatric Chronic Pain Patients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The “helping alliance” between patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) plays an important role in the evaluation of therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to develop a German version of the Helping Alliance Questionnaire for pediatric patients (HAQ‐P) and caregivers (HAQ‐CG). Methods The questionnaire

Gut function among children treated for severe acute malnutrition: A cohort study in Uganda

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Impaired gut function in children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is associated with morbidity. We aimed to assess changes in six biomarkers representing different domains of gut function among children with complicated SAM during nutritional rehabilitation, and to identify predictors of these changes.

Borrelia and Genital Lichen Sclerosus: A Critical Review of the Evidence

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Lichen sclerosus (LSc) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that primarily affects the genitalia. Growing evidence supports chronic occlusive urine exposure as the principal pathogenic driver, though other mechanisms, including mechanical irritation, hormonal influences, autoimmunity, and infection, have been proposed.

A transient protoplast expression system for functional gene validation in sugarcane: Focus on drought response and immune pathways

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
We developed a transient expression system for sugarcane using Guitang 42 culm, suitable for various assays such as GCaMP6‐based calcium imaging. This system revealed that ScNCED3 acts as an early drought response signal, positively regulated by ScPYL4‐12, ScOST1‐12, and ScMPK6‐11.
