The role of neuropilin 2 in physiological and pathological angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The generation of new lymphatic vessels through lymphangiogenesis has been implicated in many disease states. This process has some overlap with the better studied angiogenesis pathway, but is under distinct molecular control.

Neuropilin-2 Is a Receptor for Semaphorin IV Insight into the Structural Basis of Receptor Function and Specificity

open access: yes, 1998
Neuropilins bind secreted members of the semaphorin family of proteins. Neuropilin-1 is a receptor for Sema III. Here, we show that neuropilin-2 is a receptor for the secreted semaphorin Sema IV and acts selectively to mediate repulsive guidance events ...

Nrp2 is sufficient to instruct circuit formation of mitral-cells to mediate odour-induced attractive social responses

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Neuropilin 2 (Nrp2) is expressed by a subset of mitral cells in the postero-ventral olfactory bulb in mice. Here the authors show that Nrp2 is sufficient to instruct mitral cell targeting to the anterior part of medial amygdala that modulates olfactory ...

Semaphorin 3F and neuropilin-2 control the migration of human T-cell precursors. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Neuropilins and semaphorins are known as modulators of axon guidance, angiogenesis, and organogenesis in the developing nervous system, but have been recently evidenced as also playing a role in the immune system. Here we describe the expression and role

A noncanonical role for Jagged1 in endothelial mechanotransduction

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study reveals a noncanonical role for Jagged1 in endothelial mechanotransduction. Shear stress modulates Jagged1 expression and subcellular localization. Loss of Jagged1 attenuates mechanotransduction and reduces Src, VEGFR2, and ERK signaling. Direct mechanical stimulation of Jagged1 induces activation of these signaling pathways.

VEGF family members : modulators of tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Members of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family and their receptors (VEGFR) play an essential role in the development and maintenance of the blood and lymphatic vasculature.

ADAM17 and its proteolytic targets in disease pathogenesis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
ADAM17 as a multifunctional sheddase with contrasting roles across inflammatory, metabolic, cardiovascular, and neoplastic diseases. Through regulated activation by iRhom, iTAP/FRMD8, and tetraspanins, ADAM17 cleaves diverse membrane ligands and receptors, thereby promoting inflammation, fibrosis, obesity, insulin resistance, and tumor progression ...

Expression of placental growth factor, neuropilin-1, and neuropilin-2 in primary pterygium tissue

open access: yes, 2023
Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of placental growth factor (PLGF), neuropilin-1 (NP-1), and neuropilin-2 (NP-2) molecules in primary pterygium tissue compared with normal conjunctival tissue. Methods The records of 42 patients

Neuropilin-2 regulates airway inflammatory responses to inhaled lipopolysaccharide. [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol, 2018
Neuropilins are multifunctional receptors that play important roles in immune regulation. Neuropilin-2 (NRP2) is expressed in the lungs, but whether it regulates airway immune responses is unknown. Here, we report that Nrp2 is weakly expressed by alveolar macrophages (AMs) in the steady state but is dramatically upregulated following in vivo ...
