Nitrobenzoates and Nitrothiobenzoates with Activity against M. tuberculosis [PDF]
Esters of weak acids have shown improved antimycobacterial activity over the corresponding free acids and nitro benzoates in particular have previously shown to have a very intriguing activity. To expand the potential of nitro-derivatives of benzoic acid

Benzoic Acid Derivatives as Prodrugs for the Treatment of Tuberculosis [PDF]
One interesting approach to fight tuberculosis is the use of prodrugs that often have shown improved biological activities over drugs with poor absorption or difficulty to cross membranes. Previous studies demonstrate that weak acids such as benzoic acid,

Magnetic, spectrochemical and thermal properties of the 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzoates of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) [PDF]
Some physico-chemical properties of the 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzoates of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) were studied. The complexes were obtained as hydrates with a metal ion to ligand ratio of 1:2. All the complexes were polycrystalline compounds.

3-Methylpyridinium 4-nitrobenzoate–4-nitrobenzoic acid (1/1) [PDF]
In the title compound, C6H8N+·C7H4NO4−·C7H5NO4, the cation is protonated at its pyridine N atom and makes a dihedral angle of 74.14 (12)° with the benzene ring of the anion. The benzene ring of the neutral molecule and the pyridine ring are inclined at an angle of 79.20 (12)°.

Benzimidazolium 2-nitrobenzoate bis(2-nitrobenzoic acid)
The title compound, C7H7N2+·C7H4NO4−·2C7H5NO4, consists of one benzimidazolium cation, one 2-nitrobenzoate anion and two 2-nitrobenzoic acid molecules. These ions and molecules build an infinite one-dimensional chain through hydrogen bonds.

Rate constants for solvolysis of tertiary chlorides and p-nitrobenzoates are compared and converted to Bentley’s unified reactivity scale. For the majority of structures consistent behavior is observed. Deviations are interpreted in terms of F-strain dr,

Bacterial degradation of m-nitrobenzoic acid [PDF]
Pseudomonas sp. strain JS51 grows on m-nitrobenzoate (m-NBA) with stoichiometric release of nitrite. m-NBA-grown cells oxidized m-NBA and protocatechuate but not 3-hydroxybenzoate, 4-hydroxy-3-nitrobenzoate, 4-nitrocatechol, and 1,2,4-benzenetriol. Protocatechuate accumulated transiently when succinate-grown cells were transferred to media containing m-

Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative Heck vinylation of 2-nitrobenzoates in the presence of CuF2
A new protocol for the decarboxylative Heck vinylation of benzoic acids is disclosed. In the presence of a catalyst system generated in situ from Pd(OAc)2 (2 mol %), CuF2 (2 equiv), and benzoquinone (0.5 equiv) in NMP, a wide range of olefins were ...
