Reactions of nitroxides 15. Cinnamates bearing a nitroxyl moiety synthesized using a Mizoroki–Heck cross-coupling reaction

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
Cinnamic acid derivatives bearing a nitroxyl moiety (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-oxyl-4-piperidyl 3-E-aryl acrylates) were synthesized in 30–100% yield using a Mizoroki–Heck cross-coupling reaction between 4-acryloyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl and

Synthesis and Characterization of Acrylate‐Based Block and Block‐Graft Copolymers Using Polyester‐Based Macro‐RAFT Agents Through Two‐Step Polymerization and Assessment of One‐Pot Epoxy Group Ring‐Opening Modification

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram of RAFT polymerization of acrylate monomers. ABSTRACT This study reports the synthesis of a macro‐RAFT agent based on poly(ɛ‐caprolactone) (PCL) via ring‐opening polymerization (ROP), which was subsequently used to prepare acrylate‐based block and block‐graft copolymers through RAFT polymerization.

Robust β‐myrcene block copolymer elastomeric vitrimers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Myrcene‐based vitrimeric elastomers were compared: statistical (poly(styrene‐stat‐myrcene‐stat‐AAEMA)] versus ‘hard–soft’ diblock (poly(styrene)‐block‐poly(myrcene‐co‐AAEMA)). The diblock's ability to anchor the glassy poly(styrene) blocks in a self‐assembled microstructure was effective – leading to four times higher tensile stress and ten times ...

Degradation of Crystalline Si‐Based Solar Modules With Varying Material Combinations—Part I: Encapsulant Degradation

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This work deals with the degradation of solar modules with varying material combinations under accelerated aging conditions. By in situ moisture measurements and simulations of oxygen ingress, the consumption of stabilizing additives and polymer degradation can be correlated spatially resolved with the penetrating stressors.

Redox nanoparticles: synthesis, properties and perspectives of use for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2018
Oxidative stress (OS) and nitrative stress (NS) accompany many diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). Antioxidants have been proposed to counteract OS/NS in these diseases. Nevertheless, the effects of antioxidants are

Advance in One‐Pot Synthesis of Polymer‐Coated Nanogold: Au(III)–Monomer Redox Reaction Initiates Radical Polymerization and Produces a Potential Nanotag Platform

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Gold nanoparticles are prepared simultaneously with the formation of a polymer, whose growth is initiated by direct interaction of Au(III) with a vinyl‐type monomer. Nanoparticles produce stable, bioorthogonal SERS signal originating from an isonitrile/carbene‐type functionality covalently anchored to the gold surface.

Characterization of the Pore Environments in Covalent Organic Frameworks by Dynamic Spin Probe Exchange

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with alkyl or triethylene glycol pore linings are probed with water‐dissolved nitroxide radicals using CW EPR spectroscopy. Adsorption affinity, local polarity, and radical concentration inside the pores are quantified, revealing hydrogen bonding, dipolar, and π‐π interactions that govern guest binding, which ...

Carbon‐Modified SnS2/g‐C3N4 S‐Scheme Heterostructure with Enhanced Interfacial Charge Transfer for Efficient Photocatalytic Reduction of Cr(VI) and 4‐Nitrophenol

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The S‐scheme of SnS2‐C/g‐C3N4 heterostructure enables Photocatalytic Cr(VI) and 4‐NP reduction. ABSTRACT Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) and 4‐nitrophenol (4‐NP) are persistent and highly toxic water pollutants that require efficient treatment under mild conditions. In this work, L‐cysteine‐derived carbon‐modified SnS2 (SnS2‐C) was prepared hydrothermally
