Efficacy and Safety of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors in the Treatment of Hematologic Malignancies: An Umbrella Review of Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background This umbrella review summarizes evidence from systematic reviews and meta‐analyses on the efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in hematologic malignancies. To our knowledge, this is the first umbrella review to comprehensively evaluate ICIs across multiple hematologic cancers.

Synergistic Interaction Between MALAT1/miR‐30b‐5p/BAFF Axis and Inflammatory Cytokines Underlies Rituximab‐Refractory NMOSD

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
The MALAT1/miR‐30b‐5p/BAFF axis is activated in monocytes during NMOSD onset and relapse. The MALAT1/miR‐30b‐5p/BAFF axis is activated in monocytes, thereby facilitating the release of BAFF and inflammatory cytokines (including IL‐1, IL‐6, IL‐8, and TNF‐α).

Human Papillomavirus: Update in Bridging Basic Science to Clinical and Public Health Innovations

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Human papillomavirus (HPV), a non‐enveloped, double‐strand DNA viral pathogen, is intricately linked with the onset of various cancers, including cervical cancer and head and neck cancers. The present paper delves into HPV's ancient recognition and significant milestones such as the discovery of its role in oncogenesis and the development of ...

Immune Evasion in Ovarian Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis: Mechanisms and Biomarker‐Guided Therapeutic Matching

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 241, Issue 6, June 2026.
This graphical abstract summarizes the major immune‐evasion mechanisms that limit immunotherapy efficacy in ovarian cancer peritoneal metastasis. Peritoneal dissemination is shaped by impaired antigen visibility, coordinated immune‐evasion modules within ascites and multicellular spheroids, checkpoint‐driven T‐cell exhaustion, suppressive tumor ...

DAMP Laden Extracellular Vesicles From the Airways of Patients With Severe SARS‐CoV‐2 Respiratory Infection Compromise Inflammation and Cellular Metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Extracellular vesicles from severe COVID‐19 airways carry depleted miRNAs and elevated DAMPs, reprogramming monocytes toward senescence, impaired metabolism, and predominantly reduced cytokine responses. However, they drive excess IL‐8 production, amplifying neutrophil recruitment and dysfunctional inflammation across the respiratory tract.

Slamf1, the NKT cell control gene Nkt1

open access: yes, 2007
Invariant NKT cells play a critical role in controlling the strength and character of adaptive immune responses. We have previously reported deficiencies in the numbers and function of NKT cells in the NOD mouse strain, which is a well-validated model of

Fatty Acid Metabolism in Health and Cancer: From Fundamental Mechanisms to Therapeutic Application

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
The modulation of the TME by fatty acid metabolism primarily occurs through four key pathways: inflammation regulation, signal transduction, translation to TME, and oxidative stress. ABSTRACT Fatty acid metabolism (FAM) plays a vital role in maintaining health by supporting energy production, cellular structure, and signaling processes.

Blocking the innate immune CD1d/NKT cell axis prevents the development of cortical hyperexcitability and posttraumatic epilepsy

open access: yes
Objective: Posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE) that develops after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) cannot be prevented by current treatments. Although neuroinflammation is involved in epileptogenesis, a potential role for cellular immunity in this process is ...

Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Uncover Immune Dynamics and Cellular Heterogeneity in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Prostate Cancer Transition

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Leveraging integrated single‐cell and spatial transcriptomics, we delineated the sustained immunosuppressive landscape during prostate disease progression. Based on this, we have developed a precise gene‐based diagnostic classifier and a multimodal prognostic model.

Cross‐Compartment Multimodal Analyses Reveal Differences in IL2‐STAT5 Signaling Associated With Asthma in Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Cross‐compartment multimodal analyses reveal that under both healthy and asthmatic conditions, self‐reported African American (AA) individuals are linked to upregulation of IL2‐STAT5 signaling compared with self‐reported European American (EA) individuals, which is linked to enhanced T cell activation and recruitment during asthma.
