Triple-Isotope Tracing for Pathway Discernment of NMN-Induced NAD+ Biosynthesis in Whole Mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2023
Numerous efforts in basic and clinical studies have explored the potential anti-aging and health-promoting effects of NAD+-boosting compounds such as nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).

NMN Deamidase Delays Wallerian Degeneration and Rescues Axonal Defects Caused by NMNAT2 Deficiency In Vivo [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2017
Axons require the axonal NAD-synthesizing enzyme NMNAT2 to survive. Injury or genetically-induced depletion of NMNAT2 triggers axonal degeneration or defective axon growth.

SS-31 and NMN: Two paths to improve metabolism and function in aged hearts [PDF]

open access: yesAging Cell, 2020
The effects of two different mitochondrial-targeted drugs, SS-31 and NMN, were tested on Old mouse hearts. After treatment with the drugs, individually or Combined, heart function was examined by echocardiography.

Deamidation of nicotinamide and NMN

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1961
Deamidation of nicotinamide was first demonstrated in lactic acid bacteria by Hughes and Williamson (1953). Rajagopalan et al. (1958) were the first to report the presence of this enzyme nicotinamide deamidase in vertebrates. Among the vertebrates studied, the enzyme activity was exhibited only by the avian species. The present communication deals with,

Purification of large neuromedin N (NMN) from canine intestine and its identification as NMN-125

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991
A large molecular form of neuromedin N (NMN), a neurotensin (NT)-related peptide, was purified to homogeneity from canine ileal mucosa. The amino acid sequence of its N-terminal 20 residues was found to be SDSEEEMKALEADLLTNMHT, which is identical to residues 24-43 of the cDNA-predicted NT/NMN precursor.

NAD+ Intermediates: The Biology and Therapeutic Potential of NMN and NR [PDF]

open access: yesCell Metabolism, 2018
Research on the biology of NAD+ has been gaining momentum, providing many critical insights into the pathogenesis of age-associated functional decline and diseases. In particular, two key NAD+ intermediates, nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), have been extensively studied over the past several years.

Identification of the archaeal NMN adenylyltransferase gene

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1999
Increasing evidence on the importance of fluctuations in NAD+ levels in the living cell is accumulating. Therefore a deeper knowledge on the regulation of coenzyme synthesis and recycling is required. In this context the study of NMN adenylyltransferase (EC 2.7.7.1),. a key enzyme in the NAD+ biosynthetic pathway, assumes a remarkable relevance.

Host–microbiome interactions in nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) deamidation

FEBS Letters, 2023
The nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD + ) precursor nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is a proposed therapy for age‐related disease, whereby it is assumed that NMN is incorporated into NAD + through the canonical recycling pathway.

Anticancer action by natural ingredient NMN and its mechanism: Focusing on the molecular mechanism of NMN on breast cancer cells.

Clinical Imaging and Case Reports, 2022
It was confirmed that NMN causes a decrease in breast cancer cells. Breast cancer is now a major problem for women because it is sensitive to estrogen. The standard treatments for breast cancer are generally surgery, anticancer drugs, and radiation therapy.
