Blood‐Based Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease: Advances in Detection Technologies and Clinical Applications

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Blood‐based biomarkers are emerging as accessible tools for Alzheimer's disease screening, diagnosis, risk stratification, and longitudinal monitoring. This review summarizes major biomarkers, including Aβ42/Aβ40, phosphorylated tau species, NfL, GFAP, genetic risk markers, and exploratory inflammatory, synaptic, and proteomic candidates.

Human leukocyte antigen-associated uveitis in Thai population: Brief review

open access: yesJournal of Associated Medical Sciences, 2015
Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) has been associated with several immune-mediated diseases, malignancies and infectious diseases. Due to the HLA complexity and polymorphisms, several types of HLA have been used as the molecular markers in diagnosis.

Fine‐scale genetic structure of the cloud forest tree Ocotea psychotrioides revealed by genome‐wide SNP data

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Recent advances in genomic technologies now enable the reconstruction of evolutionary histories at fine spatial scales, illuminating the complex dynamics that shape biodiversity patterns in naturally discontinuous, archipelago‐like ecosystems such as cloud forests.

A computational HLA allele-typing protocol to de-noise and leverage nanopore amplicon data

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Rapid turnaround time for a third-field resolution deceased donor human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing is critical to improve organ transplantation outcomes.

Immune suppression, HLA-risk and potential future immune based targets of oral leukoplakia progression

open access: yesFrontiers in Dental Medicine
BackgroundOral leukoplakia (OL) is the most common oral potentially malignant disorder and carries a non-trivial risk of malignant transformation. Biomarkers are sought to aid in identifying lesions with high risk for malignant transformation, yet none ...

HLA-B*5701 screening for hypersensitivity to Abacavir [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background Hypersensitivity reaction to abacavir is strongly associated with the presence of the HLA-B*5701 allele. This study was designed to establish the effectiveness of prospective HLA-B*5701 screening to prevent the hypersensitivity reaction to ...

Distinct Consequences of BCOR and BCORL1 Mutations in Myeloid Neoplasms and Bone Marrow Failure

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT BCOR and BCORL1 (BCOR/L1) mutations are observed in both myeloid neoplasms (MN) and bone marrow failure syndromes (BMF), but their clinical significance may differ. We analyzed 11 340 patients and identified 418 BCOR/L1‐mutated patients, focusing on differences between MN and BMF. Compared with MN, BMF was associated with younger age, a higher

DE NOVO ANTI HLA ANTIBODIES AFTER KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION: CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE AND ASSOCIATION WITH GRAFT FUNCTION [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of the Balkan Medical Union, 2017
Background. Kidney transplantation (TR) is the best treatment of chronic kidney disease. Chronic cellular and antibody mediated rejections have still major impact on graft survival.

Characterisation of HLA-specific antibodies [PDF]

open access: yes
A successful kidney transplant is the best treatment for established renal failure, yet around 300 patients per annum are denied transplants because they have antibodies, most notably directed against donor HLA or ABO in their blood, which have the ...
