A Tripartite Model for EBV‐Driven Multiple Sclerosis: B Cell Survival, Altered Self‐Presentation, and HLA‐DR15‐Restricted T Cell Cross‐Reactivity

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This commentary integrates findings from three recent Cell reports to establish a unified mechanistic model of multiple sclerosis (MS) driven by the interplay between Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) and the HLA‐DR15 genotype. EBV promotes CNS autoimmunity through three distinct but intersecting mechanisms.

Enhanced peripheral blood mononuclear cell lipid metabolism drives poor immunotherapy response via ferroptotic stress‐induced T cell exhaustion in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omics reveals that CD36‐mediated lipid overload in PBMCs drives T cell exhaustion via sub‐lethal ferroptotic stress and AKT suppression. This systemic metabolic signature serves as a robust predictor of immunotherapy response in HCC, suggesting that modulating lipid metabolism can rescue immune fitness.

Metrnβ drives sepsis immunosuppression via macrophage reprogramming: A novel prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Metrnβ serves as a novel prognostic biomarker for sepsis and that targeted blockade of the Metrnβ‐c‐Kit axis represents a promising therapeutic strategy for sepsis. Abstract Sepsis is a heterogeneous syndrome critically driven by immunosuppression, yet lacking personalized prognostic markers and therapeutic targets. Here, we provide evidence to support

Shaping the research agenda of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition: The proposal from an Italian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SIGENP) expert group

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract The Italian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SIGENP) recognized the need to define research priorities and identify knowledge gaps to guide future investigations in pediatric digestive health. Following international examples, SIGENP aimed to provide a structured framework that aligns scientific innovation with ...

Collagenous gastritis in pediatric patients with severe follicular pangastritis and iron deficiency anemia

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Collagenous gastritis is a rare disorder characterized by subepithelial collagen deposition in the gastric mucosa and is frequently associated with iron deficiency anemia. We report two girls aged 8 and 16 years with persistent iron deficiency anemia, abdominal pain, bloating, and constipation.

Non-HLA associations with autoimmune diseases

Autoimmunity Reviews, 2006
Susceptibility to autoimmune diseases (AID) has been associated with multiple combinations of genes and environmental or stochastic factors. The strongest influence on susceptibility to autoimmunity is the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), in particular HLA; however, linkage analyses among multiple affected family members have established that ...

Non-HLA antibodies in transplantation

Current Opinion in Organ Transplantation, 2016
A growing interest in the contribution of non-human leukocyte antigens (non-HLA) antibodies to allograft rejection has led to the identification of multiple target antigens and investigation into the possible mechanisms of injury. Although several non-HLA antibody specificities have been identified, the largest cohorts studied are those detected using ...

Non‐HLA Lymphocyte Cytotoxins in Various Diseases

Tissue Antigens, 1979
Cold non‐HLA lymphocyte cytotoxins were found to be principally reactive against B lymphocytes. These antibodies were studied in 1335 patients with a wide range of diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), scleroderma, Hashimoto's disease, asthma, diabetes, lymphoma, psoriasis, leukemia, multiple sclerosis, and ...
