Evaluating the Clinical Relevance of Antibodies against Non-Human Leukocyte Antigen in Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesAntibodies
Introduction: Kidney transplantation is the preferred modality of kidney replacement therapy for eligible patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), given that it has been found to reduce mortality rates, improve quality of life, and is cost ...

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

HLA-G Genotype/Expression/Disease Association Studies: Success, Hurdles, and Perspectives

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
The non-classical HLA-G is a well-known immune-modulatory molecule. In physiological condition, HLA-G surface expression is restricted to the maternal–fetal interface and to immune-privileged adult tissues, whereas soluble forms of HLA-G are detectable ...

Improving the estimation of celiac disease sibling risk by non-HLA genes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Celiac Disease (CD) is a polygenic trait, and HLA genes explain less than half of the genetic variation. Through large GWAs more than 40 associated non-HLA genes were identified, but they give a small contribution to the heritability of the disease.

Genomic full-length sequence of the novel HLA-B*56:94 allele

open access: yes
HLA-B*56:94 differs from HLA-B*56:05:01 by two non-synonymous nucleotide substitutions in exon 1 and synonymous nucleotide substitutions in exon 1 and exon ...

The HLA-DRA*0102 allele: correct nucleotide sequence and associated HLA haplotypes

open access: yes, 2002
Here we correct the nucleotide sequence of a single known variant of the HLA-DRA gene. We show that the coding regions of the HLA-DRA*0101 and HLA-DRA*0102 alleles do not differ at two codons as reported previously, but only in codon 217.

Application and Single‐Cell Regulation Mechanism of Engineered EVs Combined With 4D‐Printed Hydrogel for Infected Burn Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4D bioprinted hydrogel loaded with FGF2‐modified extracellular vesicles (4D@F‐EVs) targets dermal fibroblasts and elevates local wound FGF2 levels via sustained release of F‐EVs. It activates PI3K‐Akt signaling, restores critical KGF+ fibroblast–KGFR+ keratinocyte crosstalk, enhances robust angiogenesis and collagen deposition to efficiently repair ...

eHLAstic reveals an extended canonical and non-canonical HLA-E immunopeptidome in human cancers

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: HLA-E is a non-classical MHC class I molecule with restricted polymorphism, offering a putative path to broadly applicable off-the-shelf therapies.

A Decoy‐Receptor‐Armed Biomimetic Nanotherapeutic With Inherent Tropism for Conserved Pathogenic Macrophages for Treating Osteoarthritis and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...
