Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Gap junctions modulate interkinetic nuclear movement in retinal progenitor cells [PDF]
During early retinal development, progenitor cells must divide repeatedly to expand the progenitor pool. During G1 and G2 of the cell cycle, progenitor cell nuclei migrate back-and-forth across the proliferative zone in a process termed interkinetic ...

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. The Nucleus Bypasses Obstacles by Deforming Like a Drop with Surface Tension Mediated by Lamin A/C
Migrating cells must deform their stiff cell nucleus to move through pores and fibers in tissue. Lamin A/C is known to hinder cell migration by limiting nuclear deformation and passage through confining channels, but its role in nuclear deformation and ...

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Weaving a pattern from disparate threads: lamin function in nuclear assembly and DNA replication [PDF]
The major residual structure that remains associated with the nuclear envelope following extraction of isolated nuclei or oocyte germinal vesicles with non-ionic detergents, nucleases and high salt is the lamina (Fawcett, 1966; Aaronson and Blobel ...

Genetic architecture of band neutrophil fraction in Iceland
A GWAS in Iceland reveals that variants in inner nuclear membrane proteins are associated with nuclear morphology of granulocytes and band neutrophil fraction.

Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
