Cotton-based nucleic acid extraction

open access: yes, 2022
: Nucleic acid amplification technique (NAAT)-assisted detection is the primary intervention for pathogen molecular diagnostics. However, NAATs such as quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) require prior purification or extraction of ...

Magnetic Droplet Manipulation on Open Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Recent advances in the manipulation of magnetic droplets demonstrate various manipulations on open surfaces, including transport, splitting, merging, and force‐controlled motion, enabled by magnetic particles and external fields. ABSTRACT Manipulation of liquids on a smaller scale enables applications in various fields, particularly diagnostics and ...

Characterization and engineering of a DNA polymerase reveals a single amino-acid substitution in the fingers subdomain to increase strand-displacement activity of A-family prokaryotic DNA polymerases

open access: yesBMC Molecular and Cell Biology, 2019
Background The discovery of thermostable DNA polymerases such as Taq DNA polymerase revolutionized amplification of DNA by polymerase chain reaction methods that rely on thermal cycling for strand separation.

Review on Application of Nucleic Acid Amplification Techniques in Pharmaceutical Products Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science, 2015
The aim of this study was to describe application of molecular diagnostic tests based on nucleic acid amplification technologies (NAATs) in pharmaceutical product analysis. NAAT have become widely established in clinical microbiology laboratories in recent years, as well as in quality control (QC) laboratories for food testing, and lately introduced to

Genome‐Wide CRISPR Screen Identifies a microRNA Orchestrating Pleiotropic Resistance to Targeted Therapy and T Cell Immunity in Melanoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A genome‐wide microRNA CRISPR screen identifies miR‐18a as a master regulator of cross‐resistance in melanoma. Loss of miR‐18a activates the AJUBA–YAP/Hippo axis to confer BRAFi resistance and enhances THBS1–CD47 interaction to impair CD8+ T cell immunity. hnRNP A1 is identified as an upstream regulator of miR‐18a processing.

RNA Helicase DDX21 Controls CD4+ T Cell Proliferation and Promotes Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...

Lab-on-a-chip systems for the analysis of phytoplankton RNA

open access: yes, 2013
Monitoring microorganisms in natural water is central to understanding and managing risks to human health and ecosystems. Some phytoplankton can produce toxic blooms which are harmful to aquatic ecosystems and human health.
